Strange thread...

From a players assistance perspective I have received only one complaint against bodog in 2005. One out of the over 350 disputes players filed through my site last year......and that only case turned out to be chip dumping...

I don't think BoDog has ever had a slow pay/no pay complaint and doubt they ever will.

The owner was a crook before BoDog...maybe he has changed his ways since he no longer needs money.

They have the best business model of any book offshore in my opinion and is likely the most financially solid.

It is the guy that started the company that would make me nervous.

I will NEVER play at BODOG again because of their dual lines. There are way to many better books around FWIW! LT:finger23:

Clip you continue to 'appear' to be an insider but never really say much, no disrespect, but I have seen you do this several times, it's as if you know everything but never really get into anything in particular....Do you purpose drop subtle hints or ??? Maybe you are close to Shr..

Not sure what you mean..."never seem to say much". What else should I be adding?

I have a lot of close ties and friends in the industry. I have been in and out of the industry myself a lot longer than most I would think.

I think it would be an eye opening experience for most to spend an extended period of time offshore and see how these books operate and get to know the owners personally.

I do have quite a bit of money tied into the industry and choose to only do business with people of integrity...they are few and far in between in this industry and think it is a shame that dishonest people succeed so easily in this industry.

I was talking about your ties to the industry, slowly but surely they have come out but only in bits and pieces...I'm not doubting any of what you say, it just seems like you came out of nowhere, as a poster, now it seems you have a little knowledge about everything from the site being bought back (which was not close to true) to every book owners history etc.

Geez, and here I thought you were just a very knowledgeable Clippers fan lol.

Hmm...I think everything I said about the possibility of this site being sold was 100% accurate. Even I never thought it would go through. All of my responses and questions were "what if's" just to see what other people were feeling. But I could be wrong.

I would have thought BOS would be the owner by now, but that is just my opinion. I know they were interested. Hell, for what they paid to advertise, they should own it.

:puppy:

I do get frustrated sometimes with the lack of accurate information or the ability to obtain it regarding books and owners. It amazes me how many people can have an opinion on an industry that they have never been offshore to experience. I think that is when I normally chime in (and often regret doing so).

Which books have the integrity angle covered for you Clip, just curious who you bet with? Am I reading that right that anyone arrested before like the BoDog owner is someone you try to steer clear of? I know CRIS, WSEX, Greek, the Pinnacle gang and so on all have had one or more of their principles (past or present) popped for one reason or another, in fact off hand I don't know of a book that hasn't had some sort of trouble with Uncle Sam or local authorities along the way. I am genuinely curious for your opinion because most bookmakers have been popped at least once in their life, most more than that. That's why many of them got out of the country to begin with....

Thanks.

I agree...but to me, there is a difference between getting popped for taking bets or getting popped for stealing. I know of a lot of bookmakers with integrity that would sell their house if needed to pay a player. Just because they are breaking a law by taking bets, I don't necessarily hold that against them as being a criminal. I guess it can be deemed a double standard, but breaking that type of law wouldn't make me lose trust in a person.

I play mainly with Spiro at Olympic. I never have any doubts about anything with him. He doesn't have the best lines, but he is someone I have made mid 6 figure bets with and I never have to worry about getting paid.

I think Luke at Legendz is probably the most honest and integrity driven guy offshore. Just my opinion. That group is as solid as any offshore even though they don't take sharp action.

I would also put Hollywood right up there with the best.

As you said...a lot of crooks offshore. It just amazes me how bad it really is. A great point you made is that many of the people offshore are there for a reason. It is a shame that it is unregulated. I know the guys I mentioned above would be very successful if this were a legal industry that was governed...I can't say that about most offshore shops.

There's a big difference between a bookmaker who has been arrested for bookmaking or any bs charges they derive from bookmaking and someone like Tej who has been convicted of fraud.

It takes a special type of person to wake up in the morning and swindle someone.

Pick another subject if you're trying to start an argument Jay, my old man kept book for 25 years.

Are you suggesting though what Calvin did is the same as Tej? I got a close friend who got popped for the same thing, he wasn't completely innocent but he was close. Since he wouldn't roll on the others he did 18 months in a federal prison. Just my opinion but nothing I read here would keep me from playing at BoDog.

The dual lines, low limits, and late to hang their numbers stuff might, but not anything else.

Just got home and I see this thread has taken a new direction. I only meant for this thread to bring attention to LVA mods quote of "not taking Bodog advertising $ at the current time."

I believe Rx to be the most informative internet site out there and I believe I should be able to post information received from somewhat related "lva and fezzik" sources.

If I am wrong, please post new guidelines on posting and I will gladly follow.

All I am saying is pointing out that people from WSEX, CRIS, and WWTS may have felonies in their past is not relevant. In all of thise cases, unless there is information I am not aware of, every one of those cases was bookmaking or bookmaking related.

I think violating securities laws is very serious. One or two violations may happen by accident, multiple violations are not a coincidence. You don't "park" stock in other people's name by accident or for no reason. You don't issue yourself shares without proper compensation or disclosure to the board by accident.

So my answer is yes, what he did, whcih was several acts of fraud and deception, and deliberate attempts to circumvent reporting requirements is more in line with Tej than anyone who has been popped for bookmaking, especially if there was money to be paid back. That means that at some point people were out money, whether or not they have since been paid back.

Like I said earlier, he's lucky he wasn't in the US and was just operating in Vancouver which seems to be the home of the stock scam.

I have my own opinions about Bodog and how they operate but I will keep them to myself right now. I remember when they were Big Book or whatever they were called (Was it Grand Prix and/or Mayan) with their "Ebanx, bet with the bank, that makes us safer" motto which was actually owned by the same people who owned the book.

There are some people out there who know a lot about them, namely BigMo. I hope one day he comes in here an shares everything in detail.
