BetOnline.com Super Bowl Odds - Patriots, AFC teams still favorites
The Super Bowl odds haven’t changed a whole lot since the start of the NFL training camps but online betting handicappers will notice some minor tweaks. At the top of the board, the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are still the favorites, while a few NFC teams have slid down a bit thanks to a few key injuries.

The Patriots (+400) and Super Bowl Champion Steelers (+625) lead the way as the Super Bowl favorites with the Philadelphia Eagles (+815) as the only other team under 10-to-1. Beyond that, there are four other teams within 20-to-1 to win the Super Bowl, which includes the San Diego Chargers (+1015), New York Giants (+1015), Indianapolis Colts (+1415) and Dallas Cowboys (+1415). With the two teams with the lowest Super Bowl odds coming from the AFC, clearly the Super Bowl betting community is under the impression that the next Champ will come from the AFC. It’s hard to argue with as the AFC has won nine of the last 12 Super Bowls.
Some key injuries have shaken up the Super Bowl odds, but mostly for NFC teams. The Eagles were stung hard when starting middle linebacker and leading tackler Stewart Bradley tore his ACL. He will be lost for the season. Combined with the death of former defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, the Eagles defense has taken some big hits.
A couple of other teams’ Super Bowl odds were affected by injuries, including two teams from the NFC South. The Carolina Panthers lost key run stuffing defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu, which is a big subtraction at a spot where the Panthers don’t have much depth. Although they return 21 of 22 starters on defense, NFL betting sharps know this is a big problem considering how little depth the team has behind him. Lastly, the Atlanta Falcons also suffered a key loss when up-and-coming second-year wideout Harry Douglas was lost for the season. He was expected to push Michael Jenkins for a starting spot.
Overall, while the Patriots and Steelers stay healthy, not much has changed at the top of the board for Super Bowl odds. A few Super Bowl odds on NFC teams were lowered, but aside from that, it’s status quo in the preseason.
