Zee, re-read my post - all the bets placed on the match lost at BJM. There were no winners cancelled. As far as 4 days ago goes - I do not know the cronolgy of the events that took place. I am simply reporting why BJM cancelled the 9 wagers they had on the game (all on PSG).

I am not saying it was the right thing to do and neither is BJM but it happened, and hopefully something like this will not re-occur.

Could better due diligence been done by BJM? Most certainly but for one reason or another they did not find out about the situation until the game had started. I am curious to hear more from other players who played at other books and how their wagers were handled.

All that said, no one wants to see any wagers cancelled, certainly not BJM a most straight forward sportsbook.

wil.

Ok, will, there is no harm done to players then, except the bad precedent. No other book has cancelled wagers on the game, I assure you. Nobody would dare.

More on the situation in Paris

Marseille confirm decision to send B team to Paris
Sun Mar 5, 2006 11:04 AM GMT

PARIS, March 5 (Reuters) - Olympique Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has confirmed the club is sending their B team to Paris to face arch-rivals Paris St Germain at Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Diouf, who also asked the Marseille supporters not to travel to the capital, said he feared someone could be killed.

"Marseille's first team will not go to Paris," Diouf told French television channel TF1 on Sunday. "You don't play with peoples' lives."

The former European champions have accused PSG of refusing to sell them the promised number of tickets and of seating Marseille fans just underneath PSG supporters.

The president of the French Professional Football League (LFP), Frederic Thiriez, had urged Marseille to send their best team to Paris, saying every possible measure had been taken to guarantee maximum safety.

Of the 16 players selected by Marseille, only seven are members of the professional team and none of them are regular first-choice players.
The nine others normally play for Marseille's amateur team in the equivalent of the fifth division.

.........

5teamparlay -- what I meant was there was no team winning one way or another. There was 3 way betting on the game, either side, PSG or Marseille, would have been a lost wager if the game ended in a tie - so in a sense at 0-0 all wagers not made on DRAW were losing when the game was cancelled. Had one side on another been leading - I was told the bets would not have been cancelled.

I bet on Indiana a few years ago and Knight benched all his starters. Should I ask for a refund? I am not understanding the logic behind cancelling these wagers. Aren't all bets considered "action" unless otherwise specified.

Wil if that is the call by RX mods cancel is the correct play also send a link to bettrojan to have these cancelled on a mis line. I did not think it was a mis line but I guess if you have ruled in favor of betjamaica than the Rx thinks it was a mis line.

thanks

No way Try. I am simply reporting what happened at BJM, you obviously knew that Marseille was sending their amateurs and decided to take a shot - sorry but I can't help you.

Unacceptable.

So what if they benched their players. We all trade on information. There was no justification to cancel before the game, and then it was compounded by cancelling almost halfway in (makes no diff if it was 0-0).

BetJM needs to do something to make this right. Like starting by admitted that they fvcked this up, had no right to cancel and would not do so again in a similar situation.

D2bets.. That is fairly obvious that BJM knows they made a mistake.

I spoke to Shayla at BJM (Scotty is off today). She informed me that because PSG played their 2nd team in this game the linesmaker cancelled the game at 0-0 sometime during the later part of the first half. The game was 0-0 at the time, emails were sent immediately to all the players that made wagers on the game. There were no bets on the total and all the wagers (less than 10 bets) turned out to be losers.

BJM wants to make it clear that this is not normal procedure and they would never have cancelled the wagers had there been a score. The unusual circumstances surrounding the game is what triggered the cancellation.

I know for certain that Scotty would never try to take advantage of any situation that he felt would be unfair to players. Personally I do not know the cronology of the events surrounding the game but it appears some players knew more than the BJM linesmakers before the game started.

BJM apologises to anyone who may have been inconvienced by the cancellation.

Thanks, wil..<!-- / message -->

that is bizarre. for 10 wagers (what would that have been maybe $2000?) they almost cost themselves a top rating and a place here at the Rx. can you imagine if the second stringers ran out of gas and lost 1-0? Also goes to show you it was not necessarily a bad line was it?????

wil I think you should conser asking the other RX books to cancel all plays on this game, not insist but off that if they had a mis line its a no play as far as the Rx is concerned. They can make their own choice obviously.

Nahhh, why should other books be forced to pay for JM's mistake?

Im being sarcastic on this one D2.

this is proof pudding in the future however, that there is no such thing as crying bad line in soccer. this unadjusted line was dead on.

Try, bad line is not the reason for the cancellations. I really think the linesmaker felt that the players had taken advantage of BJM and he ruled to cancel the wagers for that reason (the amateur team). Was it the best decision? In hindsight, absolutely not, but it is done now and there is nothing that can change that.

I am sure Scotty will contact me tomorrow with more input into how this happened.

Ask Fishhead how many times he puts in a wager or combination of wagers where he does not have the long term best of it???? every bet you make should take advantage of these books.

that was foolish by them....

Players and books take advantage of each other the time. That's what this is all about. But everyone plays by the rules. This wasn't by the rules. Not even close. But mistakes can be made and we're all forgiving, especially of an otherwise quality shop like JM, so long as they at least own up to their mistakes. I'm pretty sure Scotty will do that. Mistakes are made from time to time, it's how you deal with them that tells a lot.

Very unfortunate situation for Betjamaica. I have been extremely pleased with their customer service and book but this was not a good move on their part for the players involved.

This thread would be 6 pages long by now if the cancelled wager would have won.

The 0-0 argument does not fly!
