Makes more sense now.

BUt what did he think he was going up against.
ATF he checks but she bets out 8K (either she has low pockets, trips, stat draw, striat, or the nut strait).

I do not get the 16K reraise. If she had small pockets, she will fold. If she flopped a high pair with a strait draw she stays, but if she flopped a higher strit or the the nuts you cannot tell.

Turn is no help (other than the draw for Matt). Why push all in? Obv the 5 was no help, so her read would be str8 to the Q and would only call with a higher str8t, right?

Maybe I am giving the other players too much credit. Maybe she would have called with trips or 2 pair from what you guys were saying.

assassin cause thats what you do. He had the third best possible hand in that case, you don't play scared of the nuts if you play to win. You get your chips in and if somebody's got the nuts whatever, that's poker. there was no other way he could've played that hand once he was in it.

Sounded like she was a wild player, and he was tired of it. You have to get lucky multiple times to win the WS. If he river's the flush, maybe he goes on to the final table. You just never know. That's poker.

You're not going to get away from that hand in a 2 way pot. She could have had anything from AQ to JJ to AA whatever. If she has AK or K9, so be it. Nothing you can do there

Is there a payout schedule for the finishers at the WSOP? What is the cutoff?

Cut off is into the 800's. Go to cardplayer.com to see the payouts.

thats a rough way to go out.....thats why its so tough to play against very loose aggresive players.....u can hardly put them on a hand.

I think that someone else posted up the funds for him in a % deal. Most of the sponsor deals involve the player getting 100% of the cash if he only makes the money though. Making over $20,000 is usually the cutoff for the 50% deal or whatever the deal was. Most people give about 33% to the sponsor above the first 20,000 or so

He played the hand fine. With his chips stack at the time, he was staring the 10,000-20,000 payout level in the face anyway. If he wins that hand it could have put him WELL on his way to the 100,000+++ payouts!

The hand that he finally went out on was an OK play as well. He really just wanted to steal the blinds for an extra round

Annie doubles up to 290k QQ vs TT......QQ holds up and she is still in the fight.

I'm not apoker pro by any means, but I do not understand how Matt played this hand (what he was thinking his oppenent had, etc). Maybe its becuase I already know the outcome.

Any real players read on the hand would be appreciated.

She could be raising with about anything preflop and then continuation betting any thing on the flop. Once she calls my checkraise we can put her on a range. Flop is QJT monotone. She could have AQ,KQ, KJ, KT, QJ, JT, AK, K9, AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, even 99 will take one off probably. When I shove on the turn, she is going to have to call with QQ,JJ,TT, she is probably going to call a lot of other hands too as I could have a pretty wide range even a naked King.

Very easy to critique a hand after it's played and you know the outcome. Having said that I am pretty sure I never call a raise with an 8-9 in that position. You want my blind then take it, never crazy about playing cards like that even when I can get in for nothing, especially in early position. If you do make the call than you can never get away from the hand, I think he played the hand fine once he decided to call the raise and see the flop. I may have saved myself that hand only because I probably chop the dealers hand off I muck that hand so hard once it is raised preflop.

Nice tournament though, most of us would have never made it as far as he did.

It's very easy to critique the hand knowing all the variables and the propensity of your opponants before the flop and at any point there after.

You don't have to wait until after the hand for it to "be easy" to critique the play.

WTF do you think I meant?
