Outkast in the late 90's was the best concert I been too (the Aquemini tour, one of the best albums ever IMO due to its mixture of music and different styles on the songs)
...............wish I could have seen Led Zeppelin in concert in their prime though

Was thinking about this subject recently. Been to a few hundred gigs and there's probably a dozen or so that would be candidates for top 3. There's one gig that was so fantastic that it really ruined my expectations for the next time I saw them about a year later. That gig was The English Beat at the Opera house (between Tremont & Washington st) in Boston in November of 1982.

That gig was pure unfiltered joy from start to finish and was likely the best audience ever. The show was also simulcast live on the radio and recordings of it exist. The band later put 3 songs from it on an official release. As a result, a bootleg site like dimeadozen bans the complete recording from being posted.

Other contenders that stand out in memory would be Bob Dylan & The Band in January 1974 (matinee gig at Boston Garden) and The Faces (Fall 1975 Boston Garden).

I replied a few posts back when this thread was thriving a few months ago. There were a couple that I'd forgotten about that are most definitely worth mentioning.

Talking Heads @Orpheum in Boston 1980. The band had recently released their much anticipated 4th album (Remain In Light). Upon listening, it was a complete departure from their previous efforts. The music seemed fairly inaccessible and difficult to get a grip on. It came off as a real disappointment. So a few weeks later I make a few maneuver's and get myself and a friend on the guest list (with no seats). We get this great spot behind what I'd call the Abe Lincoln seats. The band starts out with the original members (as a 4 piece). After a few numbers, they started bring out other musicians. Eventually there were 9 onstage and they started a doing a string of numbers off the new album. They were amazing. I'd equate listening to the record for the first time and then going to see them perform the songs to staring at a Monet from two feet away and then stepping back about 20 feet. Incredible.

This is from a gig in Italy (1980), but it's pretty much the same as the one I attended.

The other was attending both the matinee and evening shows of the last two Clash gigs of the 17 show residence at Bond's Casino in Times Square (June 13, 1981). Scored my tickets on the street for face. I was actually onstage for the last 2 songs of the matinee (with about 100 others). The stage lights were unbearably hot. Amongst the best days in memory.
