OK, my best story (or stories)...
Lived in Vegas for two years back from 1998-2000. I played A LOT of blackjack and often at a decent rate per hand. On this one particular night, I was out with a friend playing VERY small. Really, we wanted to just hang out and get free drinks for a while, so I sat down in the Monte Carlo with $150, which was all I pretty much had for that week. After almost 10 hours of playing, I had worked the amount up to an even $1000 profit. It was a great day of cards and we started to head out. Just before we hit the door, there was a roulette wheel staring at us. Now I hate roulette. Never play it. Old people and drunk woman play roulette. Anyway, my friend challenges me to put the entire grand on black. It took a few minutes to talk me into it, but what the hell, it was all profit and we drank all night for free. 26 black. Winner. Before I can even grab my chip, he is already talking me into letting it ride. Now not the whole amount, just the $1000 I had just won. Why not? Let's play until red comes up at $1000 a pop.
26 black spins later, I am walking to the cage with a handful of yellow chips. Up $26K. I have never seen that many of one color in a row - EVER (or since). The entire sign was lit up black. There was a huge crowd around me, but I didn't much notice. It's like 4AM by now. On our way out, a guy runs up and asks if we have a place to stay for the night.
"Well, no," I said. "We just flew in and haven't decided yet." Uhh, we lived just down the street.
Of course the guy offers up a great room, full RFB. I have to call my wife back at home and have her pack a bag. "Honey, we are staying at the Monte Carlo for a few days."
Room was great. Had a giant jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room and a button that made one whole wall of drapes rise up to reveal glass floor to ceiling and an awesome view of the strip from the tub. We ordered Filet Mignon every 45 minutes for the first few hours then headed across the street to NYNY. We promptly lost the ENTIRE 26 grand in about 3 hours. I was sick. No, I couldn't even pull out $5K??? Nope, chased that ship right into the ground. We ended up staying in the room at the Monte Carlo for another day and a half before they finally ordered us out because I had not been back down to the floor to play. We used the "sick" excuse and "have a meeting" lie to drag it out as long as we could.
Fast forward one week to the day. This time we are out playing again at Mandalay Bay, starting with the same $150. Same long hours slowly building my roll to $1000. Get up to leave. Same challenge, same play on roulette. 29 black. Winner. What the hell? Let it ride again. 17 blacks in a row before red finally comes up and I now have $16K. No way in hell was I letting this one turn out the same way.
I left and drove immediately to the Ducati shop down off Sunset and bought a motorcycle THAT DAY. 1998 yellow Ducati SuperSport. Loved that bike.
Haven't had a run like that since. I've been up that much money, but started with much more too. Never that kind of luck. Uhh, and I still hate roulette.
I call bullshit on the 26 (actually 27 since you said you hit 26 after the initial black hit). I also call bullshit on the subsequent 17 blacks in a row a few days later. You might as well tell us you won the megabucks given the odds involved.
