I'd rather not run a poker room... too much risk of violence (used to play in boston before my spot got held up). Also looking for something legal.

Sno cone idea is a good one, but seasonal at best here in portland.

I am a REo broker. I started it all with a small investment. I bought a house 2 years ago and I have a friend that runs a 1/2 NL game 3 nights a week. My game rakes 110.00 on a hourly avarage. The dealers take anything over the 110.00 + tips. We usually have 2 tables for a total of 5-9 hours per night. The remaining table runs for another 3-5 hours. This really is a CASH COW!

Avarage 2200 in rake X 3 nights = 6600 cash per week.
Our best week ever was 8200

I've looked into starting a Bar Poker League (where they play for points) If you have set nights off, you can pull in about 12-15k a year working 3 nights a week running this...

I don't understand how being a useless middleman/broker works, unless you have a lot capital to front.

Why would people pay someone you to host a poker game when it is so easy to find a game? It's not 1950. How do you get a dog shit cleaning business up and running and turn a profit?

I'll tell you one not to bother with-- candy machines. It sounds good in theory and the profit margins are nice, but if you don't have good locations you will have people calling you from places where you net $6 amonth on a Saturday morning telling you that the Mike & Ike's are stuck together and to come down and fix it.

SnowCone stand, all you need is ice and syrup and you rake in the money because everyone loves snow cones
Know a lady and her husband who run a Stand from memorial day to Sep ist. They have articles in the paper about the stand from time to time. Been in the family 50 years. It is in a predominately Spanish area and everytime i pass by there are at least 25 people in line. Opens at 11.am and closes and 10pm. They never touch a lick the rest of the year and travel all over.I have never been by and not seen a line.:howdy:

You should look into getting a spot at local fairs and festivals. I have friends that do the Texas State Fair and the Oklahoma State Fair and that is ALL they do for the year. Deep frying corndogs, snickers, Mars Bars, you name it, they fry it. Mark up on those types of items are HUGE. Just to give you an idea, it costs right around .30 cents to make a corndog. You can sell it for $4-$5 all day long.

Start up cost is VERY low. HUGE return if you play your cards right.

The vending machines that I would guess are doing very good right now are the ones you dump spare change into and the video rentals. Anyone who got into those two years ago when this question was first asked could be doing very well

"Lite" Office cleaning business or washing windows. Was part owner of a company that did both for abour 7 years. Had to sell my share for personal reasons. Made about 3k/mo with the cleaning only "working" 15 hours/week. (This was a "side" business we all had full time careers. There were three partners splitting jobs evenly for the week. The business took in about 10k +/- a few hundred monthly. Very low overhead - main expenses were advertising and insurance/bonding.)

The windows were the real cash cow. We eachwould make on average $800/day on the days we scheduled jobs. We would do this from late April to early October. Mostly residential jobs paying $100 - $300 per job. Doing this once or twice/week. Cash $$!!!!

I have my windows cleaned three times a year and he also aerates the yard once a year. It takes him about two hours and it is a cash cow. I have given him about 10 other customers and in five years he now has 10 helpers and seems to be doing very well.

I have no idea how cheap it is , however i doubt that it is very reasonabale. I wouldn't hesitate one minute if it took all my assets to own a Chick Fil-A.I have never been to any area that they do not have lines for hours all day long.I have spent time watching one in particular and am amazed at the amount of business the store does.I understand they run very stringent tests to evaluate the prospective buyers.I don't think anything can touch it. i would take one over two Mac's
