I know it's been discussed a lot in the past but it seems like theres a new computer coming out everyday.
I'm looking for something basically just for entertainment. Browse the web, watch sports/movies, email.
Don't really want to spend the money on a macbook as this laptop will strictly be for entertainment purposes.
13"-15" is fine, not looking for anything huge.

Any suggestions?

If I wanted cheap I would buy a dell

$349 for a laptop running Windows 8. Will is break land/speed records if you are doing heavy gaming and computing? No...but if you need to run office apps, check email, watch some porn, surf the web, this will last you for a few years.

I recently bought a Sony Vaio with a 19 inch screen and windows 7

Its great. Wasn't cheap but I am glad I spend the extra bucks. In the I looked and bought the cheaper ones and now I see the difference.

slickdeals.net

just hold out until they have a laptop you like.....

If its just for entertainment, youll be fine with about anything....

I have a thread like this an lenovo was a really popular answer... bought one for my ex, and love it... bought for me, and it's kinda awful lol... so don't know how much brand's matter....

But I was able to get a $650 laptop for $300 thru slick deals using a sale, a store rebate and a coupon...

Brands aren't really important... It's the product line that matters. There are cheap Acers, and there are ones of quality. same with every brand, minus maybe Apple, since Macs are all of relatively high quality... But yeah, Lenovo has a bunch of junky laptops, and a handful of very nice ones. Pretty much every brand has a high-end "ultrabook" now, that's thin, has a touchscreen, and is very powerful.

i love my Macbook Air, FWIW - but I wouldn't call it a cheap laptop.

Toshiba Satellite. It's the best "Cheap" laptop I've found with the features it has and offers.

Alright so heres that I'm thinking. Either Toshiba Satellite, cheaper Lenovo or buy an older 2008/9 macbook from craigslist.

Dell is out of the question I should have stated that in my first post. I've owned 3 Dell computers, not a single one lasted more than a 1.5yrs.

yeah, just read the slickdeals.net site and filter to just the computers category.

there's a ton of good branded cheap laptops with excellent specs that are going for around $500-$600 new right now. then there's refurbs that are going for like $300-$400. intel is coming out with a new chip in a few months so they're blowing these out right now.

The only hard part about using slickdeals.net is that I'm leaving in 12 days and will need it by then.

deals posted on slickdeals are usually from B&M retailers or online retailers with quick shipping options.
