guesser clueless if he actually believes that nobody has stopped watching the NFL because of the political crap. I stated that it's a combination of all things, but definitely people have stopped watching because of the protests.

To say otherwise is just being stupid.
No, being stupid is calling for Concentration camps in America, for people who disagree with you politically.
People don't give up something they like alot, because of any Political crap.

I like this passage from that link: The networks that televise the games barely mention the protests anymore. But the fans have not forgotten.

People haven't forgotten the heavy handed Michael Sam garbage either. What bothers me, but doesn't surprise me, is that it took a loss of ratings and a threat to the revenue for these networks to stop showing obnoxious, offensive behavior. They wouldn't purposefully keep showing someone grabbing their crotch after they score, or acting like they are defecating the football. These protests are just more uncivilized defiant behavior thinly disguised behind some stupid narrative.

How many times do you have to hear this? Just because you say something, doesn't make it so. Ratings are down. Polls show that the political bs has influenced people and they say they are less likely to watch. It's the best evidence you're going to get that it has had an effect unless you want to physically go to everyone's home and see if they are watching.

If you love the NFL product on TV, you're not gonna give it up because some athlete(s) take a Political stand. If you're lukewarm or less about the product, and want to make a political point, you'll tell people that poll that the political part is what drove you away.

Think it has more to do with cutting cords and expanded available viewing options and less about length of time, commercials, and much lesser anything related to the protests.

Dumb article above that did not hit on tbe reason .

Your reason is the reason

Why do you think that? I used to love ESPN. Used to have it on all day. Now unless there is a live game on I will not watch. If I am offended by a commercial for a product, I don't care how much I enjoy that product, I boycott that business. Just because principles don't mean that much to you doesn't mean they aren't important to many others.

And it isn't just that some athlete took a knee. The networks handled it awfully. Bunch of spineless PC schmucks treated it like it was an important issue or possibly some kind of noble revolution.

I'm not knocking anyone who does, but I would never spend a dime of my money attending an NFL game.

I decided I'd never again pay for NFL tickets about 10 years ago. This season I've turned down a couple games with free tickets. I still watch, but I'm doing other things around the house during the games.

How about the fact that a lot of people were watching because of fantasy football. Those people probably got tired of it and it's affecting the ratings. I just know for me personally there aren't enough big stars right now.
How many Tom Bradys are there?

Another thing I've noticed is the quality of play across the League is way down, especially at QB. A lot of these QB's coming out of college just don't have what it takes. Not sure the reason.

Boycotting the NFL tonight and watching baseball instead.

You guys may be right the same things/reasons happened with the NBA the last decade as we've seen interest in that league drop.

But i think the NFL ALSO has all of the additional problems others have mentioned which are contributing as well...

I haven't met one person who has stopped watching because of the protests. All of my friends/co-workers/people i talk with still watch

This has no relevance at all.

It is like me saying I don't know a single person who will vote for Hillary.

Yes. It's over. Reasons:

1. The people running it are not very competent, not out of the box thinkers, and are somewhat delusional.

2. The next generation of fans are coming of age with a crap product. Most of the people commenting are Gen X or older. Millennials are the last generation who observed even a scintilla of defensive play. Think about it, I grew up idolizing the Steel Curtain, now Aaron Rodgers (wildly overrated) and Andrew Luck are emphasized as “great”

3. In addition to above, tens of thousands of children being steered into participating in other sports due to “safety” reasons. Their interests 10-20 years from now simply won’t be in the NFL.

TV ratings for everything are down.

The entertainment landscape is far different now than it was even in 2012-2013. Anyone working in advertising/media will tell you this.

Id say protests are 4th or 5th reason behind the other stuff like penalties/commercials/declining attention spans/more entertainment options.

Oh and also two hugely polarizing celebrities running for president in an absolute shitshow of a campaign has definitely hurt. More people following that right now.

Correct. I stream games so my household doesnt contriBute toward ratings. Besides the election we have on demand and Netflix streaming. When the nfl was the best thing on TV people watched it. Now we have so many more options. Anything protest related is so far down the spectrum.

"Cord cutting" has actually become a meme.

If "cord cutting" is the reason, why are college football ratings up?
