Probably have had a thread on this before but I never get tired of reading about other bad beats, makes mine more bearable. That Duncan shot reminded me of one of mine in hoops from years past.

- Getting +12.5 points in a college game I am up by 3 points with about 8 seconds left AND have the ball!! What happens? The guy steals the inbounds and makes a 3 pointer the old fashioned way, makes the shot and gets fouled. Still not worried. My team goes down the court misses the shot, game goes to overtime and then they lose by 14!!!!! Had long since counted the money on this one.

If they had interactive wagering I am convinced I would have bet my life on this game at several points in the game.

Pre-Season NFL this yr.

Had a team +3.5.
Down 24-14 with 00:35 to go they score a TD to make it 24-20. Easy win for me, right? PAT would make it a 3 point game and the cover for me. But no! They go for the 2pt co. (to make it a 2 point game, because of course they will go for the safety to tie after the kickoff) and miss the 2 pt. and lose by 4. Can soemone explain to me why a team would go for a 2pt co. down 4 with 35 seconds left instead of the PAT to make it a 1 FG game?

One of the all time worst would have to be that college game with AZ St a couple of years ago when they were giving 8, scored first in OT and then ran an interception back to win by 13 in OT. Now THAT was a bad beat.

3 years ago ...NCAA football game between SDSU and Hawaii ..I have the EASY -8 cover as Haw is up by 10 18 seconds to go and they have the ball on there 15 yr line...this Running back I think it was CHANG or someone like then proceeds to fumble the ball and SDST runs it in for a TD as time expires....hence I do not get the cover

WHY the hell they did not just run the clock and take a knee I will never know

Whenever I see "bad beats" I think back to when I was the original Dell Dude (20 yrs ago)and I'm sitting on a 5 team parlay needing Pitts -6 over Clev.

Pitt is up by 4 and gets a 1st down and goal on the 1 yard line with 3 min to go in the 4th. They take 4 knees and turn the ball over on downs with 1 minute still on the clock. No field goal, no punching it in with the 2nd string just another rigged bad beat.

Yeah, who could forget that game. They called it a "walk off single" instead of a "walk off home run" because everyone ran out onto the field and he couldn't finish running the bases.

Just a few weeks ago...made two plays on Astros/Cubs game. Oswalts return from DL. Cubs can't hit anyone with a good fastball. I bet Astros to win. Also bet a prop that Jeff Kent will have more Total Bases then Sammy Sosa. That can't lose right? Sosa just off DL, K'ing every at bat. Well game goes 0-0 til the 16th!! And Sammy Sosa gets game winning single!! While Jeff Kent goes 0-7!! UGH.

Also remember having the OVER in a Mets playoff game..its in extra innings i believe and only chance i have is a Grand Slam. Bases loaded for Mets and Ventura comes up...hits a Grand Slam...but dosent' run the bases and is credited with a double. Thanks Robin.

I have the bad beat story that compares to no other! Last year at yankee stadium Yankees -1.5 are tied with the detroit tigers 6-6 in the bottom of the eighth Runners are on 1st and 2nd base with 1 out and the runners are sent and the ball is hit deep down the line and bounces towards the wall and both runners are forsure coming in to score. The HOT DOG vendor proceeds to lean over the wall and with HER hotdog holder she reaches down and scoops the ball as it is bouncing below the wall and pulls the ball out of play and the runner from 1st base gets sent back to 3rd on the call and the yankees cant bring home the extra run and win the game 7-6. A win turns to a loss and makes a $5500 swing on the game. Now who the hell wants to beat that story!? I am still to this day waiting to find this hotdog vendor and cut her hands off and shove a foot long down her throat.

Madcapper,

Because they weren't worried about winning. You don't get too many chances to practice two point conversions in real game situations so you practice them in the pre-season when you can. If it was a regular season game, you would have had the cover.

a few years ago (1999 i think) i had the braves
over the d'backs. braves are at home, up in the
top of the 9th, 2 outs , the batter strikes out,
but lopez drops the ball, when he was throwing
to 1st, he threw it into right field, and the
strikeout victem ended up on 2nd, later scored,
the d'backs ended up winning.

I remember that game. I had Arizona St, they were playing UCLA. I think it was Jake Plummer's last year.

Just recently (this season) can't remember who it was "across the street" had a prop on a player to shoot 4.5 free throws. He has the over and the guy already has 3 attempts in by the 2nd quarter. Before the half ends the guy gets fouled and is shooting two. Prop bet wins right? Nope. Shoots one, then shoots the 2nd one and the ref calls going in to the lane early so wipes away the last attempt. Rest of the game he never shoots another one and loses by the hook.

Not sure if those specifics are exactly right as I am basically going off memory but the gist is correct. LOL.

Max, I remember the Az St-UCLA game. Just knew I had lost going into Overtime, then remember seeing the score come across later on like the CNN bottom line, and I couldnt belive it, was sheer ectasy to the tune of $500 (1,000) swing...I know this is about bad beats butnothing wrong with a good lesson story... when I was younger, late teens. Got in the hole huge with a local bookie, and went all that I was down, I think like 1,000 on The Chiefs over the Broncos Monday Nite Game, the one they always show the hilight reel from, where Joe Montana brought them back at the end of the game. Didnt have the money to cover all of it if I lost, but I was childish and inexperienced and had to try one more time and chase it all backin one game (was the last chance game), remember was gonna have to fess up to my father if I lost and try to borrow the money would have been most shameful

let's see, I needed the Giants in a two team parlay last year in the NFL playoffs against the niners when they blew that 35 point lead that they had going into the half. Believe me I was counting my money with 30 minutes of football left to be played. Giants D decides not to show up the second half, and I think they lost by 1 point. You all remember the game, with the non-call pass interference at the end. No biggie, right? Giants were +2, right? No, I was thinkin, shit, the Giants are going to win straight-up, took the ML.
