The Red Sox may fall on their collective butts this year, but the same fate is more likely in store for the Blue Jays. With a rotation of Roy Halladay, Miguel Batista, Ted Lilly, Pat Hentgen, and Josh Towers they will again give up plenty of runs. Halladay is sure to have a let down fron his excellent Cy Young award winning performance of last year. Another question is can everyday starters Vernon Wells, Frank Catalanotto, Reed Johnson, Carlos Delgado (key again, can he stay healthy), Orlando Hudson, Cris Woodward, Eric Hinske, Greg Meyers, and DH Josh Phelps all hit as well this year, doubtful at best. The bullpen of Terry Adams, Kerry Lightenberg, Jason Kershner, Velerio DeLosSantos, and Tally Haines is very suspect. I really believe the DRays and Orioles will be as much competition, if not more than
Toronto for the big 2 - Yanks and Red Sox.

I thought Myers was teh only guy last season that really played well above his talent level. In Boston there are like half a dozen guys that fit that mold. I guess we just have differences of opinion on the rotation and bullpen. I think the rotation has a gangbusters top 3 and two servicable guys in back of them. Bullpen doesn't have big names but it does have effective guys who can get big outs. Time will tell, I guess.

Fishhead, Yes of course TB may be that third team in a 3-team horse race in the AL East.

Unless Boston's whole lineup has a career year for the second consecutive year, the AL East is shaping up like a one horse race. Toronto has a very good chance to be better than Boston if Foulke, Millar, Mueller, Ortiz, Nixon, et. al. turn back into pumpkins.

How did Foulke have a career year last year?
Millar will match his #'s from last year
Muller...I agree, I cant see him being as good
Ortiz will be BETTER this year!
Nixon will be BETTER this year!
