86 wins is quite a drop from the 101 the Braves won last year. The key for the Braves is how well they play at home, last year's 55-26 was second only to the Giants in the NL. With 4 decent starers in RHP Russ Ortiz, LHP Mike Hampton, LHP Horacio Ramirez, and RHP John Thomson backed up by a healthy John Smoltz in relief, over 86 might just be a steal. Bobby Cox is no fool, he will have this team competitive even in what shapes up as rebuilding year.

I agree totally with what your saying.

Having said that, I like to look only at the UNDERS in these props.

There is ONE I loooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvve UNDER!!

A's under looks good to me. If any of their big three starters gets hurt they will have a tough time making .500 this year. They have slowly but surely degraded into the AL version of the Dodgers, nice rotation, good pen, zippo on offense. To complete the mess all they would have to do is bring back Ben "Mr. batting .220" Grieve. With the A's down and the hype getting heavy on the Angels, I think the Rangers with the A-God distraction gone might be a fair value on the over. The A's have regularly eaten the Rangers up, if they can just break-even with them they will improve. The Rangers aren't that bad of a team, with less focus on one player I think they just might improve. In any case 70 wins is sort of the divider from horrible to just bad teams.

In the article it states the AL East is shaping up into a "3 way horse race". Has this man been drinking? Neither Tor nor Balt are going to contend. The AL East is so clear cut a 2 team race that to suggest anything else I would question their credibility.

hopefully you are wrong. i am holding a pair of future tix on the padres:

35-1 to go to the WS (now 8-1)
75-1 to win th WS (now 22-1)

the NL West shapes up this way:

Dodgers/Rocks "battle" for 4th/5th
D'Backs get 3rd
Padres/Giants battle for the top spot

Unless Boston's whole lineup has a career year for the second consecutive year, the AL East is shaping up like a one horse race. Toronto has a very good chance to be better than Boston if Foulke, Millar, Mueller, Ortiz, Nixon, et. al. turn back into pumpkins.
