agree never will there be another secretariat......yes he had the large heart and could pump more blood......he may have been even as good or betetr on turf.......only tried it in his last race..........ran every quarter of the derby faster than than his previous.......an almost impossible featOne of the reasons Secretariat was such a great horse was that physically, he had one of the largest hearts ever seen in a horse. His heart was freakish. I am confident in making this statement. Since 1972 when he was a 2 year old and 1973 when he won the Triple Crown, there has not been a horse run since that has even been close to his ability.
It is very difficult to compare Man O'War, Citation or Seabiscuit who raced before him. Some may have heard of a horse named Pharlap (Also had a movie worth seeing) who some believe may have been the greatest of all time. But much like all athletic sports, just can't compare periods that easily IMHO
