Yeah, definitely thought there might be a few high society women there as well. I don't think the girlfriend would mind.

QL,
When you have the beer and wine tastings, do the craigslist hookers get pissed if you don't have Boone's Farm and Olde English?

Having my own here Steak after that UNLV game. Rockbare Chardonnay. What's with the trend of winemakers going back to screw tops and away from the corks?
And before anyone makes a smart crack, these are highly rated wines that do it.

Shortage of cork due to high demand of wine in a bottle.

I used to think that when a sommelier (wine steward) offered to let you sip a bit of wine before buying the bottle it was to decide if you like the taste of the wine. Not so. It was to let you know if there was any Cork Taint which ruins the taste of the wine. Cork Taint is not to be confused with other 'taint.

I do confuse the two often as well.

Watched a show once and they said either 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 wines are spoiled in the bottle. It's ok to send it back, but you have to make sure it is for a good reason.

I heard that as well. Isn't that incredible??? Can you imagine if any other product had that frequency of failure? Imagine if 1 in 10 or 20 bottles of Flintstone Vitamins was bad. Would you buy them anymore?

So I wonder that if there is such a high percentage, why haven't wine bottlers gone with substitutes a long time ago?

I've had thousands of bottles of wines - and had one bottle where the wine was bad.

I think the older the wine, the greater the chance for spoilage.

Probably the stuff we buy in the store is pretty low on the totem pole for spoilage.

Don't really care for wine. Reminds of mad dog for some reason and after puking my guts out at a college mad dog party way back when I don't care for that taste. Did take a girl to a local vineyard and drank a bunch of it this past summer and it really gets you drunk in a hurry if you aren't used to it.

It takes getting used to, but was introduced to it through family and got hooked. There's so many different styles and nuances that it is fascinating.

I love beer and appreciated a good cocktail as well. So I'm not a discriminatory drinker.

Surprised we have such a suf-is-ti-cated poster base here. Would have thought I'd have caught all kinds of shit for this post.
That, or you are a bunch of drunks like me.

Either way,

Good times, good times.

Talk to the Food and Beverage people at work and you will find there are tons of free wine tastings for the buyers out there. Some are the nuts. I went to one in Atlantic City with hundreds of wines. We were bused there with comp Champagne, cheese and grapes along the way. Never pay!

Anyone in the Chicagoland area... Binny's is opening the largest liquor store in North America.. full wine bar where you can sample wines (for a fee) and a very large selection of beer you are able to sample.

wine tastings, good place to bring a date too =0)
just read up a little bit so they're fooled into thinking you know your shit

Doberman - you'll find lots of drunk cougars at wine-tastings, not that its a bad thing. :103631605

DjMatt - shopped at Binny's a few times. I usually go to Sam's on Clybourn when in Chicago.

I've been to a few, they are fun and I did get pretty messed up. I'm not a big wine drinker but its good to try out different kinds. After a while its hard to taste the difference between all of them.
The ones I have been to nobody spits the wine out, you can if you want to but no one does. There is a big wine festival in July at the Watkins Glen racetrack every year and I've been a few times. Never mix red and white in the same day. Also we stay overnight in a camper because the cops are at every exit and you have to blow into a breathlyser and pass or they won't let you leave.

Wine tastings are fun. I would recommend spitting early and swallowing late if you are inclined. This is to prevent spitting on yourself and ruining your shirt. You can also pull a ton of ass at these, especially if it is being held at the clubhouse of your neighborhood.
