Golden Steer Steakhouse.... some say that this is one of the few places still controlled by the mob in sin city....either way, tasty top notch steaks...

It is not in a casino...located on Sahara Ave

Upper Deck resturant inside the Las Vegas Club, its downtown so its close to the Nugget. The place is an old school diner but make kick ass food.

Considering the BASH is in downtown, here are my recommendations that are a stone throws away.

Without question, HUGOS at the Four Queens would be #1.

Lilly Langtrees at the Nugget is very good.

The Tony Romas at the Fremont is very good for a chain.

Buffets:

Main Street Station--Golden Nugget--Fremont..........in that order.

Sit-down breakfast:

The Golden Nugget coffee shop---The Dugout at the LVClub

Fast food:

Fremont chinese

Hugo's ran me about $175 for two including a $60 bottle of wine. Entrees are $30-$50. It sounds kinda silly, but they come with a salad to start that is amazing. I'm not really a salad guy, but they bring a salad cart and make it tableside. You don't need an appetizer because of it.

Mon Ami Gabi is about $150 for two....we always get wine and apps though.

Thanks for the info. I am assuming these are all within walking distance of Nugget? Sounds fairly reasonable.

The Tillerman on E.Flamingo about 2 miles East of the strip is my personal favorite. Seasfood, Steaks and a great atmosphere makes it one of the locals special occasion eating place.

Not bad, but a zoo.

My suggestion is to go to the seafood restaurant there and order the KING CRAB LEGS for $30................they are the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD.

fish,

Not a bad idea! Do you know if reservations need to be made at some of these places in advance. Every site on Vegas suggests reservations a month in advance for some of these places. Do you know?

Should you blow your bankroll:

Gold Spike - The 24-hour restaurant which closes once a year for an hour of cleaning is one of the most amazingly cheap places to get food anywhere in the world. The prices and ambience will convince you you're in the Third World. (2 for 1 coupons available for hotel guests.) Complete ham or roast beef dinners are $4.50, potato salad is $0.60, and on and on. Everything on this menu is budget priced. Full (sort of gross) breakfasts are $1.99 before 10:30 a.m. Also, if you're a guest, you get free breakfast for two every morning

Westward Ho - In the tradition of the old West, shoot up some cattle rustlers and then eat a 1/2 rack of ribs for under $5, a 3/4 lb. "Mega-dog" for $1.49, or pay $1.99 for a mammoth strawberry shortcake which will only taste good to you if you have never eaten an honest-to-goodness strawberry shortcake. The 3/4 pound hot dog is the biggest in Vegas, but you have to be a real trooper to eat it. Really, the first six or seven ounces taste fine, but then diminishing marginal returns set in and you'll hate yourself before you're done.

You can always get a cup of joe at the Ho for a nickel, or a gourmet cup for a quarter.

This place actually is pretty good. Last year Mrs. vinividivinci and I ate there and got two prime rib dinners for $4.95. They have 2-for-1 on all their entrees from 4pm til 6pm every day and regular price for prime rib is only $4.95 for complete dinner. Nice size serving, too, maybe 12 to 14 ounces with salad, large baked potato and fresh vegetable. Full bar service is available, of course.

I also really enjoy Chicago Joe's, especially for lunch. Reasonable prices and great Italian food. It is just a few blocks from the Nuggett.
