Very sad about her death but lets face it she was a junkie who could sing. If she never got famous and had money she would still be alive. There is a big difference in buying a dime bag from the streets after being stepped on a million times compared to being a recording artist or an actor with ample funds to buy the good uncut shit.

A junkie is a junkie is a junkie. I only feel bad for family and close friends.

I have to disagree with this, too. If she wasn't famous, she probably would have died being a junkie prostitute turning tricks or getting robbed and stabbed in a crack house. The money gave her rehab chances she simply would not have had otherwise. She chose to say "fuck my gift", fuck the 10 chances the world is giving me to turn my life around and being an inspiration for people that love my music, and fuck my family and friends who care about me.

So honestly, if this was an OD death, FUCK her.

There's a large difference between being overweight and losing money by gambling compared to being a total junkie to the point of killing yourself. I'm sorry you haven't made that distinction.

Another member to the 27 club. I hope she enjoyed it her time while she was here. While I don't normally take the point of agreeing with people from Tennessee (or at least the one here posting under two usernames), I don't think somebody having a drug addiction is worse than any other addiction, whether it be gambling, alcohol, religion, sex, collecting useless crap, watching sitcoms, etc.... We all choose to do the things that make us feel good. If it seems stupid or a waste of time, remember no matter what you do will always be a waste of time to somebody. To each his own.

not disagreeing entirely, but the gambler's point of view is a slower, painful death (heart acceleration, increased stress levels). I think of it as natural drugs killing the body instead.

It's easy to be critical of Amy Winehouse. But keep in mind that drugs haven't just taken the artists that people haven't particually liked or maybe even hated, but many musicians/stars that people have loved and cherished over the years. Elvis Presely basically died the same kind of death as a result of drug use. Yet is still very much loved and admired to this day by millions. The only difference is Winehouse's downward spiral was put out there for public viewing. But it's all the same in the end. No matter how you feel about the 27 Club and their use of drugs, it's hard to deny that all of these people in many ways changed the world. I think the music world would have been a much different place without the likes of Robert Johnson, Hendrix, Morrison. And for the older age group Elvis.

Winehouse has NOT changed the world. She has no business being in the 27 Club. Five years from now, she will be completely forgotten.

I wasn't talking specifically about Winehouse. Although I think she was very talented. But for the most part squandered it.
