Frontrunners: Who will win?

Curt Schilling BOS 18 6
Mark Mulder OAK 17 4
Johan Santana MIN 16 6
Mariano Rivera 46 saves

I would like to see Schilling win it not just because he is a Red Sox player. Glad to see an older player do so well.

Santana is running away with this, putting up the best numbers of any pitcher in years.

gotta be schill. .

#1 in wins, #3 in ERA, #3 in K's, #3 in work = 10 pts.

if not then santana (doesnt he have a song with that fag from matchbox 20?!) anyways

#3 wins, #2 in ERA #1 in K's, #4 in work = 10 pts.

its not a point system but they have the lowest at 10 when adding the 4 cats.

It's Santana's to lose at this point. 137 hits in 195 innings pitched is positively Pedroesque.

Rob Funk-I hate Matchbox 20 worse than anyone.

However Santana is the best pitcher this year-hands down. Maybe not the most popular-but the best.

Cy Young or not, Santana gives the twins a real shot to win a playoff series this year if one of their other starters can step up. The trio of Radke, Silva, and Lohse need to win two games between them for the Twins to advance.

I really don't think innings pitched can be placed at the same level of importance as wins, k's, era, and whip.
Take a look at some of those categories and you'll see it is Johan by a wide margin.
RobFunk has some Johan Santana-phobia, but anyone can plainly see that he is the best pitcher in the league right now and for the whole year.

My ballot:
1) Santana
2) Schilling
3) Mulder

Santana in a Cake Walk.

Did you guys know this guy after yesterday has LOWERED his ERA in 19 consecutive Starts???

Im sure that has never been done before and must be right up there with the DiMAggio hit streak just not as notable.

Thats unreal.

the writers guys. . .look at how close it was with holiday and he had 20 wins. in a world where no one cares abut anything but the sox and the yanks, i dont see how a guy pitching for boston with more wins and strong era/ k numbers wont get it.

i like santana, but they need to put his ass back in middle relief. plus tampa juiced him. he is not the real deal, if he was he wouldnt have been pitch a few in the 7th boy for so long. im sick of these go ass no namers with one great year and were supposed to think they are so great. i got no respect for esteban santana

Rob...I'm still trying to figure how Fla Marlins have won two of the last 6 W.S. Championships...I like dominance....not one year, one hit wonders!

One year wonder? Are you nuts? His ERA this year is the same as the last two years. Opponents hit .212 and .216 against him last two years before .196 this year. And how can anyone in their right mind say that when he went 12-3 last year in just 18 starts???

The Twinkies just never gave him the ball. Two years ago I was on the baseball forum here raving about the guy and couldn't believe over the hill losers like Rick Reed were still getting the starts and Santana had to wait until someone got hurt to get a spot in the rotation. He will be a dominant pitcher for many years to come. He is as rare a commodity as you can find in MLB, the left-handed power pitcher.

Yeah, Rob, Look at Schilling's numbers his first few years. Pretty impressive, lol. You're homerism and insulting of Santana is getting pretty tiresome. Why not admit, he is having one helluva a year and stop sounding so blatantly biased.
