I will visit their home this weekend and update you on the boy's condition and their family's condition as well. If Luis (the boy) is in ok health, I will see about taking him to an amusement park next week, and out for McDonald's, etc. It's hard to even say these things... I am a parent myself, and can only imagine how painful all of this is for them. With your help, we will make things a little better for them.

I always wanted to keep record of those who have participated in this special cause out of personal admiration and respect, and my hope was to one day be able to send them the glad news that the boy had overcome the illness.
Today I have gone ahead and deleted 3 or 4 messages so hopefully I can receive new PMS now.

I visited the boy at his home two nights ago. It was a deeply painful sight amidst a desperate situation of poverty. Seeing a child go through such suffering is a humbling experience, but even more seeing the child's attitude of humility and bravery towards it all. I prayed for him at his grandmother's request thinking he was asleep, but as soon as I was done praying the child opened his eyes, and expressed words of gratitude that truly moved me within.
Unfortunately, the latest update is that he has stopped eating altogether and is only taking fluids. I will stop by their house this evening to try and help lighten their load, and share hope with them.
I know there are many, many good-hearted people here. If you are unable to participate economically, please consider praying for them or perhaps even just making a quick phone call to encourage them or let them know you are thinking of them. The older lady's name is Teresa and the mother's name is Kattia. The child's name is Luis. They only speak Spanish but can be reached at 2259-5427.

It is with great sadness that I must report the child passed away 40 minutes ago today. My wife is on her way to be with the boy's family now, and try to see where things stand and what needs they have.
Thank you all for your prayers, contributions, and solidarity. May God bless each of you, and may He give this family in mourning comfort and healing.
