Hey Bookie....good to see you back!!!!!
Larry Ness' Las Vegas Insider-MLB (now 31-18 or 63% since May 21!)
My Las Vegas Insider is on the Bos Red Sox at 7:05 ET. I was "right on" with the Yankees last night, going against Matsuzaka and playing on Pettitte. Also in my favor was the fact that Boston struggled against lefties on the road, as the loss drops them to 11-15 (minus-$760) in that role this year. However, the set up is MUCH different tonight. Boston will face Roger Clemens tonight and the Red Sox are an impressive 29-14 (plus-$1,525) vs righties on the road. Clemens has pitched much better in Yankee Stadium this year (2.79 ERA) than on the road (5.55 ERA) but the Yanks are still just 4-3 in his home starts. In his shortened-season, Clemens has seen the Yanks go 6-8 in his starts and at minus-$696 vs the moneyline, he ranks an abysmal 267th of 281 starters in '07. That's really nothing new as in 2006, despite a 2.30 ERA in 19 starts, the Astros were 9-10 (minus-$479) in his starts. How about in '05 when he had a 1.87 ERA in 32 starts for Houston? The astros were only 15-17 (minus-$977)! The Red Sox loss last night allowed the Yanks to get within seven games of Boston and undoubtedly, the team wouldn't want any other pitcher on the mound for this game. Josh Beckett has made 10 road starts in '07, going 9-1 with a 1.90 ERA (57 hits allowed in 71 innings). That compares to his 7-4 (4.25 ERA mark in 14 Fenway starts (team is 8-6). With as much confidence as I played the Yanks last night, I'm playing the Red Sox tonight! Las Vegas Insider on the Bos Red Sox.
Good Luck...Larry
Larry Ness' 15* NL Game of the Week (20-6 since Aug 7 and 103-36 TY!)
My 15* play is on the Cin Reds at 7:05 ET. Is it possible to "go to the well" one too many times with the same pitcher? In theory that's true but the Reds are now 13-1 in Harang's last 14 starts and 21-6 on the year! At plus-$1,633 vs the moneyline, he's MLB's biggest winner out of 281 starters. I rode him on Friday (a 5-3 winner over Florida), as my first LEGEND Play of the '07 season and I'm "jumping on board" again tonight. I consistently played on Pittsburgh's Ian Snell (at home) during the seasons' first half but Snell has not continued his fine pitching since the break (had a 2.95 ERA in 17 starts with the Pirates going 11-6, including 7-2 at home!). He opened with a 6.69 ERA in his first seven starts (he was 0-5 and team went 0-7!) and while the Pirates have won his last two outings, it's not as if he's been "lights-out," posting a 4.50 ERA. Cincinnati had won six straight and nine of 11 to move within six games of the first-place Chicago Cubs, before getting swept in yesterday's doubleheader by Pittsburgh. I realize the Pirates have won 10 of 13 and are 17-10 in August but I'm riding the "money machine" named Aaron Harang, who is also 10-3 in 16 lifetime starts vs Pittsburgh. NL Game of the Week 15* Cin Reds.
