You want that experience? Go to a minor league game, fill 85% of the stands with people that have no idea whats going on, grow some ivy on the walls, drop a few bricks on people walking by the stadium, get everyone drunk, and make sure the place smells like a urinal. When the opposing team hits a HR (which there should be plenty when you are at Cubs game), taunt the guy that caught the HR and make sure he "throws it back!" or harrass him until the game is over. Once in a while, when it's probably least relevant, start a "Let's Go Cubbies!" chant. That's a Wrigley day and night game for you. Thank me later.
Sounds bad.
Come to The Ballpark at Arlington. You will feel as though your balls were handled with sterile gloves and the fans around you will be reading Bukowski and working on their notebooks, and the pitching will suck total ass and the "fans", will not give a rat's ass, unless there is some kind of promo "pizza bullshit-give-away" if some player hits a home-run with their balls hanging out, with two outs in the 7th inning. ONLY then, will anyone give a shit. Or, if Nolan Ryan returns and pitches another no hitter. ~~~~~~~
SO, that Cubs game, as bad as it is, sounds even better. You have to understand = in the Dallas area, there is ONE team = the Dallas Cowboys. And, now, their fan base is about 97% Hispanic. Yep, watch a Boyz game when televised. Que?
The Mavs? Who gives a shit. They will have bought their way in with Mark Cuban and damn, it gets really, really old after a while.
I would like to go to Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Boston and get the 'feel' of a real baseball game = unless, by what you are telling me, THAT shit doesn't exist anymore. Is every town, every city, filled with assholes, now? Has it gotten as bad as I say it is? I only thought that was 'around here', you know, I'm cynical as hell. I still thought, maybe by looking at ESPN, that some cities still have real fans, real stadiums, the real baseball deal.
I am probably wrong = adding to my cynicism. Sorry to hear the Cubbies old stadium and brain-dead fans you describe, are not what I thought. My daughter said they had a great time at the game and she thought the fans were terrific. She had no problems, nothing but a good experience. ?
So, what is the truth here? Is it that bad, or are you just a homer-type fan who hates the Cubs. ?
I have no idea, that's why I mentioned it. I heard Baltimore was a great place to see baseball, but I'm beginning to think in my 50 years that I've seen the last (and best) that baseball has offered this country. Pete Rose, Yaz, those guys. I really do not give a shit anymore about most of these turds. A-Rod, My-Rod. Stick it.
Maybe you are right. I don't know. But, sadly, I really don't care anymore.
I really don't. People used to dress up and go to baseball games, now they look like a bunch of goons, shirtless toothless goobs, who just drink and don't know shit, and yell, and fight and are just, well, stupid. They fall from the 2nd balcony, run onto the field, get in fights, say YO and FU and all that crap. Can't even take the kids anymore without someone shouting some kinda cuss words, F-bombs, yelling, getting drunk, NO CLASS.
That is the very reason I don't go anymore. So, there.
Thanks for the input on the Cubs Stadium and game effect. I don't like urinal=smell and idiots, so I won't go = ever. Thanks for the heads-up.
I'll stay with the sterile Ballpark in Arlington, where nothing of importance will ever happen, and if it does, it won't last long.
US in badlands
:WTF:
