Iowa State -2

I was expecting a line of 4 or so. UNC was ridiculously sloppy yesterday, especially down the stretch and maybe we are seeing a lower line as a result of Bama getting the push. Going to to keep fading Bama until they display some degree of consistency. In general, I would say Bama nation expects a pretty rough year until Oats can get more of his players. Two season ending injuries and the Quinerly eligibility denial have considerably lowered expectations and the junior class outside of Petty is a waste of oxygen. And does Petty not always look like he has been smoking jumbo sized ganja joints with Bob Marley. Cracks me up. Happy Thanksgiving .

Chattanooga -6.5

Neutral site games are always tricky, but Alabama State struggles to get out of the 50’s and doesnt excel defensively. Like many SWAC schools , they will remain winless until conference play begins. Chattanooga has wins over South Alabama and Troy so covering this short number should not be too much work.

Coppin State+12.5

Coppin has been surprising thus far—wins over Loyola-Chicago, JMU, and Cornell and respectable losses against Rider, NKy, and Northern Illinois. They have done it with 3 grad transfers and paired with a senior and a junior, they have the experience edge here. The Grizzlies are a one man show with Sayeed Pridgett and their lack of roster depth suggests that covering this number may be a reach as 3 of their top 5 are freshmen.

Recon, glad it cashed for us as it looked bleak in the second half. They made 2 charges to get back in the number and the last one held fortunately. Good luck to you today.

YTD 30-22

Drexel+2

This play is against the poor offense of UMBC. Throw out their 3 scrimmage wins against D3 teams and it shows they are ranked in the bottom 25% of 2 point %, 3 point %, and free throw %. With a two point spread, their free throw percentage of 53%(ranked 351 of 353) is particularly eye opening. Drexel is no world beater and this is a road game, but losses by 8 at Temple and by 5 at Rutgers suggest they can handle this environment.

Montana State-5.5

Let’s now go to the opposite end of the spectrum and play against one of the nation’s worst defenses. WGBay is allowing 46% from 3 and 57% from 2 so if they are going to win, it appears they will have to win a shootout. Not happening as the Bobcats have achieved a defensive FG efficiency rank of 6 without playing a true home game.(the 2 d-3 games are omitted). I understand the Phoenix have played some tough opponents—Purdue, Wisc, New Mexico, etc and that can make any teams stats look bad. However, nothing changed when they played winless CSUN as they allowed 54% overall and 50% from 3.

If Grant Golden is a go, I will probably be on Richmond. They can shoot BC out of the gym, but they need his size down below.

Is the SFA game at Arkansas State the biggest letdown/trap in the history of college basketball? Win at Cameron and now pick there.

Johnnies -19.5

Wagner is a joke defensively and Anderson’s style will run them out of the gym.

Recon, Got a little dicey at the end, but we will take it

YTD 37-26

Dayton -27.5

Houston Baptist has lost to Texas Tech, Michigan , and Houston by 29,43, and 39 points, respectively. How are they able to achieve such consistent results? By playing at the nation’s fastest tempo while playing zero defense. Plenty of possessions for the Flyers to cover this big number.

Pitt -3.5

Rutgers lost the only game they have played outside of Piscataway to Saint Bonaventure in Toronto. This will be their first true road game against a surprising Pitt squad that already has home wins over FSU and KSU.

Looking at Hampton, Georgia State, and a few others.
