Anyone of you SEC guys hearing that Sark might bolt to become new ATL OC? Heard this yesterday on my drive back from Houston. Not sure if it's legit or not.

yeah, Sark is gone...

I'd love to get Helfrich an interview ... basically the entire offensive coaching staff departed in past 60 days

OC names in past hour.... Kelly, Godsey, Tee Martin, Helfrich, and two recently departed Bama position coaches that got OC jobs (Cristobal Oregon, Napier ASU)

Also possible that they promote Locksley from within for continuity but some much bigger names available

Don't think Tee Martin's wife let's him make that move. He's had some other offers in the past, including OC for Tenn, but apparently she likes the west coast. Article published last fall (late october i believe) talked about how he and HC Helton (two southern boys) really have clicked. Any run for Rick Neuheisel? I think he and Saban have developed a pretty good relationship.

i have no interest in Tee. 3 consecutive ex-USCw OC's doesn't hold much appeal and would never fly with CNS if he truly pushed Sark out because he was too similar to Kiffin (and Tee is a Kiffin OC clone). Plus the thought of hiring a title-winning Tenn QB disgusts me regardless if he's a Mobile kid

ATHENS After three seasons, defensive line coach Tracy Rocker will be leaving the Georgia football program, a team spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
Rocker is now the first of the nine on-field assistants from the 2016 Georgia staff to head elsewhere for a job.
It's unknown at this time why Rocker is leaving the Georgia staff. He earned $525,000 as an assistant this past season. He was one of two holdovers from the previous staff retained by head coach Kirby Smart.

interesting considering that:

@Mark_Schlabach The players last year told me Tracy Rocker is the best position coach they have had. A couple had 3 different ones.

Rumors that he got into a heated nasty confrontation with a recent 5-star DL's mom (Solomon?) who dropped UGA from contention after this meeting

i guess might be more than a rumor.... don't know how reliable this site is but using a scout.com employee as the source, http://www.chatsports.com/georgia-b...dismissed-arguing-mother-5-star-recruit-32204

According to Dean Legge, Scout.com's Georgia writer, Rocker was let go because he got into a heated argument with Solomon's mother, which essentially eliminated UGA from contention in the five-star's recruitment.

Absolutely amazing the amount of turnover on the Bama staff this off season. What's the most coaches Saban has had to replace in one off-season?

This is what the world is coming to. Rocker loses his job because some prima-dona player's prima-dona mom. UGA had the #3 ranked recruiting class in the country. Who cares if you missed out on a bad attitude player?

Well Sark's impact could not have been less important. Was there a few months, called about 50 plays in one game, was not on the recruiting trail, etc but we are definitely losing some coaches. I wouldn't say this is all that different than last year...just the other side of the ball. Last year was Kirby and Mel Tucker and the defensive game planner (forgot his name) that all went to UGA so only 2 of 9 assistants remain from the 2015 title team (Burton Burns on offense, Tosh Lupoi on defense)

the combo of CNS being a tough guy to work for and the rest of the world wanting CNS disciples makes this an annual occurrence. Couldn't care less about Sark other than giving him the OC gig probably played a part in both Cristobal and Napier leaving for OC roles out west. Not sure why CNS thought he was inheriting some subservient anti-Kiffin in Sarkisian but he screwed that one up. Really no impact whatsoever in the long run and now we have a couple months before Spring practices to get the right guy that wants to be here and will adhere to "the process".

Wow, only 2 of 9 remaining from 2015. Saban does a great job though of hiring. The Locksley hire is a perfect example; he's a former D1 HC plus he was already on staff as an analyst, so there's no real "break-in" period. Also, it's a lot easier to coach 4 and 5 star talent then going to a ham and egg program w/ 2 and 3 star kids, so whoever he hires he'll be just fine.

In 2013 Jimbo Fisher hired 6 new coaches in the off-season and won the national title...and did it w/ a redshirt freshman QB.

There's been a lot of movement in the SEC this season. The DL coach that just took the Ole Miss job...just left for the UGA job. Amazing.

IMO, the best hire this offseason was Canada going from Pitt to LSU as OC. I'm real interested to see what he does w/ that offense. Also surprising that Ed O fired Craig.

agree about Canada to LSU ... great hire as long as that bumbling fool, Eddie O, let's Canada take control of that side of the ball. Loved watching him spread east/west at Pitt then hammer the ball up the middle. To drop 40+/game with Nathan Peterman as your starting QB and zero talent at WR was a monumental achievement.

Bama OC interview list is Locksley, Godsey (I don't get this one), Martin (ugh), Helfrich

first and foremost CNS wants a qb coach so can't figure out how Godsey gets an interview after the magic he worked with the Texans QB's ...

Agree on Godsey. Makes no sense. Other than having the NFL background (I guess that helps w/ recruiting) I don't get it. Saban clearly wants to have more of a "college" style offense and has a DT type of QB...who will only be a sophomore. Hiring Godsey would be similar to going back to what McElwain and Nussmeir ran at Alabama.

The real deal is he has missed on 2 big targets the last 2 years. Kirby is a recruiting machine and wants all his coaches to do the same. As good as Rocker was at coaching, he struggled recruiting. That doesnt mesh with how Kirby wants to run his program

Wonder where coach Smart learned that lesson?

yeah but i think what CB was getting at is that it's a little concerning that the dog should be wagging the tail. This kid's mom is a fn joke. She wrote a 31-question survey for all of his suitors that included questions like "Will my son be able to choose his own major?" and "what time are football practices?" and "how does Aubrey choose his courses?" ... seriously, this is a bizarre individual to be dealing with.

so to blame Rocker in getting into an argument with an obviously insane parent is a little harsh. Not to mention he is/was the lead recruiter on at least 3 of their biggest 2018 in-state recruits...

normally i would agree that you can't be losing 5-stars because of arguing with a parent but in this case it might be for the best. As i mentioned on previous page Solomon was 1 of 2 5-stars that were thought of as the biggest potential busts. Some scouts believed they were #1 or #2 at their position but quite a few didn't have them in their top 50 at the position. But, we'll see ... he was the least of my concerns as far as Bama missing out on a big-time recruit. Parks wasn't far behind...i think he's a major project

New Orleans area coaches considering boycott against LSU

NEW ORLEANS — Is LSU close to losing one of its most fertile recruiting grounds within the state?

That might be what ultimately occurs on Thursday evening when several of the New Orleans Metro area high school football coaches gather to discuss a potential boycott of the LSU Tigers football program.

Several of the area’s black head football coaches are meeting to discuss how coach Ed Orgeron handled the demotion of running backs coach and New Orleans area recruiter Jabbar Juluke in the aftermath of National Signing Day.

Juluke, who was responsible for landing 3-star wide receiver Racey McMath and securing the commitments of 4-star quarterback Lowell Narcisse, 3-star tailback Clyde Edwards-Helaire and 3-star athlete Jontre Kirklin, was reassigned within the football program on Feb. 2, the day after signing day.

Juluke is the former head coach at Edna Karr (La.) High School, where he coached the team to an undefeated state championship in 2012, the second in the program’s history. He continued to recruit New Orleans after accepting a position on Louisiana Tech’s coaching staff and then for LSU over the past year.Area high school football coaches are unhappy with the way Orgeron handled the process, indicating that LSU’s first-year head coach took advantage of Juluke through the final weeks of the recruiting cycle to sign the prospects to letters of intent, then dismiss him, sources told SEC Country.

Juluke’s questionable departure remains one of several marquee issues that the coaches plan to discuss at the meeting.

Orgeron has become aware of the closed-door meeting later this week and has been in contact several of the head coaches that are expected to be in attendance, a source said. Orgeron has tried to stop the meeting and told some coaches he will devise a plan to try and correct the situation.

The meeting remains scheduled, and it is expected that the head coaches will move to boycott LSU moving forward.

Some of the schools expected to be in attendance include McDonogh 35, Edna Karr, Landry-Walker, Warren Easton and St. Augustine. These are some of the primary public schools in the city that have produced several LSU signees in recent years, including Leonard Fournette, Tyrann Mathieu, Jamal Pettigrew, Donnie Alexander, Isaiah Washington, Andre Anthony, Tyron Johnson, Sci Martin and, most recently, McMath.

New Orleans is regularly LSU’s most fertile recruiting grounds and has produced several of the program’s top players in recent years. The source intimated that other SEC programs have gotten wind of the meeting and could capitalize on the boycott, most notably Alabama. St. Augustine alum Burton Burns recruits the New Orleans region for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

Yeah.....I think we discussed a few weeks ago here that he will prolly be EJ Price 2.0.
