Friday saturday morning where backed up at the tole's they say. Of course. everybody in the country was going to the beach. If anything try to avoid Friday 9 am to 12 pm and Saturday the same times. probably Sunday afternoon coming back will be 1 to stay away from too for a while. other than that its an hour to 75 minutes max. depending on how u drive.

I can live with that!

Plus u have to realize this road saves your break pads, your gas, your radiator, and many other car problems. so in the long run. 3800 aint bad. Cause u saving in the long run trust me....

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

I guess I incorrectly expected that most of the road would be 4 lanes...

Given the amount of trucks and ..... tico drivers, it didn't feel any different than the old road (minus the mountainous part of course), and the processing time to pay each toll was ridiculous.

It is way better for night driving though which is cool.

If ticos on the road is your problem my friend, I think you're driving in the wrong country. :toast:

The government put up $36 million

You gotta love socialist capitalism. Gov takes the risk, private takes the profit.

80% of non-San Jose traffic could be solved if an efficient system of trains was put in to haul in the cargo from the coasts to the central valley... like it used to be before Don Pepe's son did himself... I mean us, a favor and closed the train so that we can enjoy his trucks blocking and damaging the the roads... leading to countless deaths.

Every time I'm caught behind a truck on the way to the beach, I think of Jose Maria having to deal with a hell of being caught behind trucks and only being able to pass a truck to end up behind another slower, more smelly one for eternity.

I won't pass judgement until I try it again on a week day...

I was pretty pissed though to spend over 2 hours sitting at a stop in traffic on this famous new "fast highway", especially when I realized it's single lane just like the old one. The toll plazas were only half the delay, poor driving skills with the passing and merging sections were the other half.

as per what the newspapers say today (they all talk about that) the fact that kids are coming back to school next week + election day next week + 'lets go see the new road ' factors all contributed to the problem

plus they all blame the slow tolls but I dont get it why they should be slow if they are the same guys that have all the tolls by multiplaza, perhaps the workers need to be trained to a faster work rhythm , the amounts are sort of ridiculous as well, I know ten colones add up in the long run specially for lower income people ........but if its 490....why not make it 500 ????

of course that goes to hell with the next raise in toll fees....but I am sure it can be made in such a way that it rounds it up or down to the next 25 or something

now if only they hurry up and have the overpass by Hatillo /Alajuelita ready before the next rainy season ......I will be a happy camper

What percentage of cost would have been incurred to pave a few yards more of dirt after you've already cleared the land?

the day they opened the road i happened to be heading to manuel antonio... i got on in sabana at around 8:30 and made it in less than 2 hours

you need a good truck to use the second lane when it opens up to pass all the fuking hyundais and slow ass trucks that shouldnt be on the road

i could see how there will be traffic issues in the future... accidents and long lines at the not well thought out toll booths... why not make the tolls at the exits? there are going to be issues but overall the new road rocks
