So uh... what was this thing built for again? Someone told me it was 2 lanes all the way, it's mostly 1 lane with a couple of passing lanes that are only long enough to get everyone going fast enough to slam on their brakes when they have to merge... The staff at the three toll plazas slowed things down nicely, the dude in front of me took like a full minute to get his change. It was bumper to bumper traffic all the way, no real reason why, just people slamming on their brakes for the corners I guess... fucking ridiculous.

We drove back at night and it was a little quicker, but not much. Comparing this trip to like a hundred other Jaco trips, at best it's 10 minutes faster and at worse it's the same or 10 minutes slower...

Way to spend that money costa rica! Building a 1 lane highway in 2010!

i went to orotina yesterday for lunch...there was a good amount of traffic going there. took a while, but on the way back was 45 minutes from orotina to santa ana. i imagine saturdays and sundays arent gonna be good days to drive that new road.

Is fuzebox talking from Heredia. During rush hour traffic? I took it on Weds. 1 hour and 15 min. for me, LaSabana to Jaco. or Jaco to LaSabana.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

I would guess the old routes might be a tad quicker now the new road is built?

The government put up $36 million

is that before or after it was given to the operator?

I know that before it was auctioned the bridges were already built so I imagine that is the $ you are talking about (but of course I could be wrong)

I guess I incorrectly expected that most of the road would be 4 lanes...

Given the amount of trucks and idiot tico drivers, it didn't feel any different than the old road (minus the mountainous part of course), and the processing time to pay each toll was ridiculous.

It is way better for night driving though which is cool.

I hear ya there.... I thought at least 2 lanes on 1 side for a long period of time ..then 2 on the other...so good passing can happen. Also, if something like a accident does happen, the flow of traffic wont come to a stop.

heard from 3 different people hour from Jaco to Multiplaza :think2:

That would be awesome if it were true, I wouldn't have wasted almost 5 hours and $6 extra lol.

Maybe they were on motorcycles?

Took me 2 hours to get to Manuel Antonio from Multiplaza and another 2 hours back, getting the Quickpass is totally recommended.
