The Vikes As Usual

fu*ked up w/all that cap money. Hutchinson was fine, but what they REALLY need as always was a stud @ LB. Wish they`d gotten that kid Withersoon instead of the Rams. Must be something besides $$ that`s keeping Arrington still on the block. A few good looking LB`s out there, the one I hear the most that would still be available is Sims from FSU. If the trade for McNair goes thru I`d bet a ton the Titans take Leinart. I DON`T think Young will drop believe Jets go for him @ #4. See some sort of trade between N.O. & NYJ tho. #1 Bush, 2 Jets Young, 3 Leinart, 4 NO Williams + dradt choice from NYJ. Houston will not pass on Bush and there is no other team that needs him bad enough to trade the "Farm", ala Ricky Wms deal. Lots of fun tho sort of feeds my "jones" till Sept.

i am probably the only one...

but I actually believe Vince Young will have an above average NFL career and in the long term when you compare both QB's careers Young will end up better than Vick

Im not sure which team gets him, but as long as he isnt thrown in the fire 1st season with a team with a terrible offensive line he will be a good draft pick

Chargers trade up into the top 10 and try to land Justice. Raiders take Vince Young. Both 1st round receivers end up being busts. Mike Hass gets picked in the 3rd round and plays 12+ years.

As for the Steelers, I am ABSOLUTELY BEGGING for them to take Lendale White. White would be a perfect fit in that system, and if need be I think we should trade up past the Panthers (the other team that looks like they might take him, although I'm a big Shelton fan) to draft him. Parker cannot carry the load by himself, and I'm not sold on Duce. I wouldn't mind Carpenter or Bing, I wouldn't mind an OT (not sold on Starks) or a 3-4 DE since Keisel is unproven and Aaron Smith is getting old. Would be very pissed however if we took Sinorice Moss or Joseph Addai as they really don't fit in with the Steelers system. Would love to see them address WR or LB in Round 2 (maybe Mike Haas or a Abdul Hodge/D'Qwell Jackson.

Dante, the Steelers allocated the second most players to NFL Europe behind only the Lions. Walter Young is the WR we sent to Frankfurt and he has some nice numbers. He has come close to making the team the last two seasons and would have made it over Gibson last year if Nate Washington didn't emerge. We also have Shane Boyd (QB from Kentucky) over there, don't worry about him he's a stiff. And another intriguing prospect is Mike Jemison (a RB for Hamburg), if Pittsburgh doesn't address the power back need he might just make the team next year.

As for other draft thoughts, I posted a few in the NFL forum, but here are some others.

I LOVE Chris Barclay as a late-round pick, the kid is defintely worth a late-round flyer.

Cromartie has all the intangibles to be a great CB in the league, he just needs to go to a team with a disciplinarian coach that won't let his head wander.

I think Winston Justice to the proper team could become the next Pace or Ogden. Amazing physical specimen and USC does have an outstanding pedigree at OT (Yary, Munoz, Matthews, AND Boselli)

The Texans would love to trade the first pick, but no one wants to move up. None of the teams in the Top 10 need AND want Reggie Bush. The Texans ideally would like to trade down and stay in the Top 5 or 6 and hope Williams or Ferguson falls to them, but that won't happen

I CANNOT WAIT to see who the Lions draft....will they FINALLY draft defense after not using a 1st rounder on a defender since Claiborne in 99. They haven't taken a 1st rounder that has panned out since Hartings in 96.

I am reluctant to see what the Browns are doing. Crennel is building that team very smartly and they will contend for a playoff spot this year. They have addressed a lot of their key needs and I have a feeling that they will only get better in the draft.

What will Denver and the Jets do? Right now they are the only teams with two first-rounders. The Jets have 3 of the first 35 picks and it will be interesting to see how they use them. Could they possibly trade 35 and 29 for another Top-20 pick? With so many needs including the only team that needs players at QB, RB, AND WR, what will they do at 4? As for Denver could Shanahan see someone he likes slip a little, and then try to trade 22 and 15 into the Top 8? Never know but I will have my eye on those two teams.

Reports are he has an absolutely terrible work ethic and he is terribly out of shape at present. Steelers dont like players with problems. I find it unlikely they will take a chance on him.

I heard white had a gut at the combine.

Not only did he have a gut....Matt Lienart benched 225 like 15 times more than him. Lendale put it up 16 times...Lienart put it up something like 30. (those are rough numbers off the top of my head...but its something like that).

Young dropping in the draft. The score of 6 on the pre draft intelligence test has scared many teams.

The Miami Dolphins will absolutely take Young if he is still available.

Not really a draft surprise, but Young either ends up playing his career at WR or in the CFL/AFL/NFLE :puppy:
