Clearly Zell millers speech was the most powerful to date. He exposed Kerry for the weak leader he would be (if, god forbid, he was ever elected). However, there doesn't appear to me that Kerry has even a remote chance.

BTW, right after Miller spoke the line at Pinny went Bush-148....Kerry+138 (+150 right around the corner)!

Zell looked like a rabid rooster. I'm surprised he didn't stroke out on the floor. What cracks me up is how three years ago he praised Kerry as the most heroic Senator in the House.

Can you say "flip-flop"?

It was a brutally effective speech...better get out the knives and destroy Zell like you've tried to destroy the Swiftboaters.

MSNBC had a focus group on the speeches:

FRANK LUNTZ’S FOCUS GROUP ON MSNBC [09/01 11:49 PM]

The focus group gathered by pollster Frank Luntz appeared to like Zell’s speech better than Cheney's. They're describing it as, "stronger... focused on the family... dead on, convincing coming from a Democrat."

Then there’s one woman: “His entire focus was on terrorism and why we should be afraid.”

The "spitballs" line got a big laugh. The focus group seemed to like the line, and many thought it illustrated a serious point well.

Cheney’s line about “as if al-Qaeda will be impressed with our softer side” did well with his group, and in particular, "He declared at the Democratic Convention that he will forcefully defend America after we have been attacked. My fellow Americans, we have already been attacked" sent all the lines on the instant-response graphs taking off. Sounds like even the Democrats agreed with that line and liked it.

Final count, 11 out of 17 liked the speeches tonight and said they're more likely to support Bush-Cheney this year.

I thought he was an excellent speaker. I thought all of the God references were a bit much and a reminder of who the Republican party really represents today.

And I thought to myself the Democrats have no one to blame but themselves because the party machine had to get behind someone who was "electable" instead of someone with convictions like Dean. Kerry is just another classic Washington insider. His voting record is all over the place and he doesn't really stand for anything.

His vote against Gulf I is as undefendable as his vote for Gulf II.

That being said, he's the lesser evil here. It's not just W, but the people he surrounds himself with.

Kerry's only chance is to kick W's butt in the debates, which is possible.

Profile: Zell Miller "Zig Zag Zell"

"Give 'em hell, Zell," the Democrats screamed at their 1992 convention as Georgia Governor Zell Miller threw his weight behind Bill Clinton and delivered a blistering attack on the incumbent President, George Bush Snr.

Mr Miller, now an outgoing Democratic senator, may enjoy similar rapture when he addresses another presidential convention in New York.

But this time, the cries will not be from enthralled Democrats - but fervent Republicans.

As Cheney said...I'm glad he's on our side.

Jay does bring up a helluva point. The Dems were so scared of Howard Dean that they failed to sort through Kerry's record before the primaries. A week before the Iowa caucus he was far behind; it wasn't until Gebhardt and Dean performed their double suicide on each other that Kerry got a 2nd look. Then Rassman showed up talking about Kerry's war hero status, and that was all Iowa needed to be convinced that Kerry could beat Bush.

Swiftboats giveth, swiftboats taketh.

Dem. Senator Miller's speech gave the Bush campaign some mighty good sound bites for future ads. May really hurt Kerry.

Like Cheney said, I am glad Zell is on the Republican side.

He looked positively rabid as he delivered his diatribe which completely contradicted his earlier career as keynote speaker for Clinton in 92 and his praise for Kerry 3 years ago.

Y'all don't think it might have to do with Georgia being such a strong Republican state now, that he had to pay homage to stay in office?

quote:
Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.

For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.

No one should dare to even think about being the Commander in Chief of this country if he doesn't believe with all his heart that our soldiers are liberators abroad and defenders of freedom at home.

But don't waste your breath telling that to the leaders of my party today. In their warped way of thinking America is the problem, not the solution.

Zell Miller certainly has a right to express his opinion on this election.
However, as the top dog for Democrats for Bush, I think he'll look like the Maytag repairman.

Somebody needs to tell this Nazi Miller that his "hero" was an AWOL soldier. Doesn't sound like he supported a fuking thing except saving his own pathetic cowardly ass. The whole lot of them are the most pathetic, cowardly bunch in history - Wolfy, Dumsfeld, Asscroft, Cheney and Bush.

Hypocracy is the RNC's finest attribute, and it all stems from stupid mutha-fukers, like Miller and Out, display of illogic.

Miller can't even have a sensible conversation with a brilliant man like Matthews - how can anyone take this clown seriously? If he yells louder does it make him "more right"? Please.

Poor, poor Lander. Your pain is so obvious it almost hurts to read your posts. With the massive republican celebration party scheduled for Nov. 2, there is a # I hope you will keep handy: 1-800-784-2433. That is 1800-SUICIDE. I would hate to lose you, as your posts do the work of 10 republicans in helping people choose whom to vote for.

Also, wonderful that you can throw around words like nazi, cowardly, and motha fuka. I assume that you are aware that words mean things? You just make yourself look foolish, and in this case suicidal. Godspeed, thepig.

Suicidal over a stuttering idiot? Right.

Did you happen to catch his interview with Matthews? I find it interesting that flip-flop Miller would insult Matthews by asking him if he knew what a methaphor was, but was too fuking stupid to understand Matthews analogy between Miller's attack on Kerry's "loyalty to the troops" and a hypothetical Dem attack on the Republican's being against "feeding children."

Instead of understand the clear connection, your icon simply freaked out and yelled "I NEVER SAID I'M AGAINST FEEDING PEOPLE!"

Of course, as is usually the case with Matthews show - the truth finally came out and flip-flop Miller admitted that his motivated by re-election reasons in heavily Republican Georgia.

You two incoherant nobodys would make a sweet couple.

Mr. Zell Miller is not a nobody, he is a United States Marine, the former governor of the great state of Georgia, and an honorable senator! I am not a nobody either, but I'm not going to give you any deatails on that.

The point is that rebublicans do "feed the children." and John kerry is not "loyal to the troops." When you guys just start calling our guys stupid, I know we have you beat. again.
Godspeed, thepig.
