[h=2]Speaking at Al Sharpton's National Action Network convention on Friday in New York City, President Barack Obama revealed that he believes voter fraud does not exist, everyone who wants to should be able to vote, even if they cannot provide identifying documentation, and Republicans are plotting to take the franchise away from minorities.[/h] Obama, who hails from a city known for the Daley Machine and its "vote early and vote often" slogan, ripped Republicans for trying to preserve the integrity of the ballot by reducing voter fraud and requiring voter IDs.
He made the accusation that there is a "well-organized effort" to undo gains the Civil Rights Movement has made in the last 50 years, and he said voting rights are "under particular assault."
"Voters who want to vote should be able to vote," Obama said. "Period."
He told the activists to stay vigilant and always be on alert for shenanigans designed to strip the right to vote away from seniors, minorities, and women by requiring them to provide identification at the polls.
"The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago," Obama said.
He added that "justice requires the right to vote," and Republicans want voters to be required to have "IDs that millions of Americans don't have."
The President then made light of his birth certificate: "I know where my birth certificate is--but a lot of people don't," he said, laughing. He referred to the controversy surrounding his birth certificate as "some crazy stuff."
Obama insisted that no "real widespread voter fraud" exists, and he said that "people who deny our rights by making bogus arguments about voter fraud" are, in fact, "the real frauds."
He also said that Attorney General Eric Holder will be vigilantly looking at all the voting laws that are passed, along with civic organizations. Additionally, he called on Congress to pass an updated voting rights law. He vowed that he and Holder would "fight back" against what he claimed were voter suppression efforts.
Obama said there is a reason the agency Holder runs is called the Department of Justice, without mentioning that nobody has yet been indicted for the IRS's role in the targeting of conservative groups like True the Vote, an organization that focuses on election integrity.
Obama gave his base plenty of red meat, warning them to forever be on the lookout for nefarious plots by conservatives to disenfranchise them. His comments came on the heels of radical comments made at the convention Wednesday by Bertha Lewis, the former ACORN CEO.
As Breitbart News reported, Lewis said that amnesty opponents and supporters of voter ID laws simply want an "apartheid-type" system in America where the "masters of the universe" can still rule in a country that is changing demographically.

Here’s a representative all Liberals can be proud of.

Alabama State Rep. Alvin Holmes (D) who said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is an "Uncle Tom" for being married to a white woman believes men should be allowed to marry mules.

As Yellowhammer News, a go-to site for Alabama politics, noted, Holmes has come under fire recently for making comments about Thomas, interracial adoptions, and black Republicans. And when asked about interracial marriage, he revealed he was in favor of men marrying animals.

“Now, I’m for interracial marriage,” Holmes said on a local radio show, according to Yellowhammer News.

He continued:

I’m for same-sex marriage. I’m the one that introduced the bill to have same-sex marriage. I don’t care who marry [sic] who. If a man meet a little mule and he wanna get married to the little mule, as long as he and the little mule get along all right, that’s fine with me. It doesn’t bother me any kind of way.

Holmes has recently called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an "Uncle Tom" for marrying a white woman and doubled down on those comments when interviewed by Breitbart News contributor and Sirius XM host David Webb for Fox News' Hannity show.

Holmes said:

I think Justice Thomas on the United States Supreme Court is an Uncle Tom. A black man allowed himself to be used to carry the message of a white man, which is against the interests of black people in America. In my opinion, that’s an Unlce Tom. In my opinion, Clarence Thomas is a very prolific Uncle Tom.

Holmes has also implied that Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) wasn't black enough because of his conservative views, then said whites who oppose policies that blacks favor are racists.

“If a white holding those positions votes against the interests of black people, we call them racist. If a black is in a position and votes against the interests of black people, we call him an Uncle Tom.”

He has also said that pro-life whites would make their daughters have an abortion if they were impregnated by a black man, whites do not want to adopt black babies, and whites would be against black people adopting white children.

“Ninety-nine percent of all of the white people in here are going to raise their hand that they are against abortion,” Holmes stated. “On the other hand, ninety-nine percent of the whites who are sitting in here now, if their daughter got pregnant by a black man, they are going to make their daughter have an abortion.”

Yellowhammer News noted that Holmes has also "offered $100,000 to anyone who could show him 'a bunch of whites' who had adopted black babies in Alabama."

After Holmes' remarks about interracial adoptions, "Faces of Families in Alabama" was created on Facebook, and nearly 13,000 people "liked" the page, as "mixed-raced families from all over the state sent in pictures" in less than three weeks. In addition, "Faces of Families held a rally on the steps of the Alabama State House to prove Holmes wrong once and for all." Though Holmes, who was invited, did not attend, "multi-racial adoptive families from all across Alabama showed up" to the event.

So Obama is saying that minorities aren't smart enough to figure out how to get a voter id?

That's pretty racist in itself against minorities

So how is requiring people to have a voter ID oppressing voters?

It is when it's not made EASILY available to EVERYONE. As is cutting down on early voting, etc. The goal should be to make voting more accessible, not less. As I said in the other thread, I am for a national ID Card that can be used for voting, but it must be extremely easily obtainable for everyone. That will take great expense and manpower, but it's worth it, IMO, not because of the non issue of voter fraud, but because of all the purposes it will serve.
