You're crazy if you don't watch the College World Series

Four absolutely EPIC games the last two days. Try to find that kind of action & drama in MLB.

I was told that yesterdays Neb-ASU game is going to be replayed on ESPN Classics tomorrow night. Very painful loss, but still an incredible game to watch if you didn't see it the first time.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but the CWS is awesome viewing.

They just did a 20 min story about on i think the name of the show is real sports on HBO last week.There was a pitcher that got killed by getting hit in the head by a line drive.

A test that they did showed that the pitcher had no chance of reacting to it because of the extra speed that the alumium bat added.

If you didn't see it you should be able to catch a replay of it.

Carlos Zambrano about got his face taken off by a ball tonight in the Cubs game! That's with wood. I had a ball come over my head one time in college and I thought I about caught it.....came in after inning and they said it was about at 2nd base by the time i put my glove up. Metal bats are extremely dangerous!

They deadened the aluminum big time in recent years. Not much difference from wood at all anymore, aside from saving the school cash for bats. The difference is WAY overblown these days.

In a side note, whoever didn't see the Husker/Az. St. game live should make a point to tune in on ESPN classic from the 7th inning in. As a sports fan you owe it to yourself to do that. Classic stuff.

Don't mean to disagree...seems like me and royal have been up to that lately for some reason...but deadening has certainly not happened. The bats that Easton is making these days are incredible...wish they had those back when I played. Ball just flies off those new Stealth bats...amazing piece of aluminum..don't even think its aluminum any longer....the material is more than 15 times the strength of steel...it's carbon nanotcechnology...the bats are getting worse!!

they also have a new piece in the middle that coils or hinges as you swing the bat to provide more bat speed. I picked one up the other day and swung it a few times...amazing they are letting kids use these things!

Not even close....as if Arizona State or Nebraska can't afford some wood bats....many junior college conferences are using wood or wood composite bats these days. As far as I know this happens in Arizona, Washington, and Utah. Almost every college team uses wood or wood composite bats in their fall season and spring exhibition games. NCAA, NAIA, JuCo, all use wood in the fall.

The "sweet spot" on an aluminum bat is much, much greater than the same on a wood bat. Also, tin bats are designed these days to "flex" on contact WAY more than a wood bat is capable...what I mean is, the wall of the barrel is flexing (pushing the ball) while at the same time the handle is "flexing" the ball forward. Similar to the effect of hitting a golf ball with a driver with the "flex wall" type of head.

There are many guys in college who have "aluminum swings" that can't cut it when they swing wood.

All college leagues should be using wood or Baum bats, or some other type of composite.

Guess they are still using the same ones as when there were about 40 runs scored in the championship game a few years back when USC and Az. St. played. Obviously, you guys don't pay attention to college baseball much. They did indeed change the restrictions on the bats to "slow" the ball down greatly. Not saying it is the same as wood or that wood shouldn't be used, but it does reduce costs greatly for colleges and after the restricitions is much less dangerous.

I don't mean to argue with you either Viking, but in instances that we seem to have argued about I know I am right and therefore the hardline stances.
