I was working with my friend on his car in his backyard when he asked me if I wanted a beer. We were on summer break and it was hot outside in New Jersey.

He called up his older brother's friend who lived around the corner from a tavern up the street. Now at that time in Joisey, you could only get beer taken out in containers, like won ton soup from a chinese restaurant. His friend popped into his backyard with three containers for us to drink. Naturally it was draft beer. I could only guess which brand it was since there was obviously no label on the containers. My guess would be one of the more popular beers at the time. Ballentine, Pabst Blue Ribbon, or maybe Rheingold the dry beer. Anyone remember any of these? I hope it was Ballentine since they were sponsors of the Yankees! Mel Allen used to get blitzed on the stuff!

First time I had beer was in a German Beer hall. I have no idea what kind it was but I remember this lady carrying like six huge mugs in her hand. I was 16.

Over the years I seen many questions asked in this forum. Many posters have come and gone during that time. But I doubt there has EVER been a question as important to gamblers as : What was their first brand of beer? Thanks for asking the question of the decade.

I'm not certain...think it was a Schlitz --came in a can and my buddies and I bought it in Maryland. They call it a "package store " there. LOL

But I'm not sure--it might have been a Pabst Blue Ribbon which was also popular back then. Somehow Bud wasn't on the front row in those days.

It was either

Molson-Dry.gif

or

Both are Joe Six Pack, generic-tasting beers, sold in every convenience store in Quebec.

My fridge is constantly stocked with Boréale now, either Blonde or Golden. It is my all-purpose beer of choice.

My mom used to go to night school back when I was I think 2 years old or in that area, so to put me to sleep my dad would put a little Bud in my bottle and give me a Krispy Kreme doughnut and I'd fall asleep on spot. Even though some say it tastes like horse piss it's still my fave!

Our old neighbor bought the cheapest beer around, Bucky Beer. It was horrible. I also drank Hamm's (from the land of sky blue waters!). I remember the day I turned 18 (that was the age you could drink beer back then) I bought a 6-pack of Grain Belt beer and put it in the refrigerator.

My parents asked whose beer it was and I claimed it. They couldn't get mad because I was legal.
