Not really a tv character per say but Rod was a true genius imo.

Felix Unger was a classic as well.

Going the other way with "The Odd Couple". Jack Klugman as Oscar Madison should be every gambler's favorite.

Episode where Oscar and Felix own a bad racing greyhound:

Felix: "This dog has racing in his blood!!"
Oscar: "Then he needs a transfusion."

Felix: "Well I'm going to race him!"
Oscar: "I bet you beat him."

Sol II I just watched the Maltese Falcon on Turner Movie Classics a week or so ago. One of my top 5 movies. Great cast (breakthru movie for Sidney Greenstreet) and terrific Dashiel Hammett adaptation directed and written by then 1st time director John Huston.

The cheaper the crook, the gaudier the patter.

When a man's partner is killed he's supposed to do something about it. It doesn't matter any difference what you thought of him. He was your partner and you're supposed to do something about it.

While I of course could relate more with Oscar (being the filthy slob gambler that I am), those nasal "smegh" sounds of Felix with his allergy just never failed to crack up everyone watching.

I'd also like to add that I believe Matthau was the superior Oscar Madison.

Klugman has always overacted every role he's ever done imo.

Jules Winfield...."Say what again. I dare you. I double-dare you."

Tony Montana...."What'd you do, fix the umpires?"

"Spit Shine" Tommy De Vito...."I said, no more shines Billy Maybe you didn't hear about it, you've been away a long time, I didn't go up, didn't tell ya."

Jimmy Conway...."I'm not mad, I'm proud of you. You took your first pinch like a man and you learn two great things in your life. Look at me, never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut."

Eric Cartman :cartman: "Revenge is so very, very schweet."
