I Majored in English language and literature and am very well read so narrowing it down to one might be close to impossible.

THe most influential Writers on my life to date:

Hemingway, Walker Percy , Charles Bukowski , Shakespeare And Camus

Being forced to narrow it down to just one

Percy's THE MOVIEGOER

A few quotes from THE MOVIEGOER

quote:

For some time now the impression has been growing upon me that everyone is dead. It happens when I speak to people. In the middle of a sentence it will come over me: Yes , beyone doubt this is death. There is little to do but groan and make an excuse and slip away as quickly as one can. At such times it seems that the conversation is spoken by automations that have no choice in what they say"[/I]

Wherever you go, you must meet and master first thing or be met and mastered.

In this world good ness is destined to be defeated. But a man must go down fighting. That is the victory. To do anything less is to be less than a man.

Judge - When I read the topic, I said to myself, I bet the Judge comes up with something by Steinbeck. Excellent choice. Grapes of Wrath also classic.

Wil,Grapes of wrath would be in my top 5.Probably more significant than Mice and Men,but Mice and Men just a bit more heartbreaking.

Philp K. Dick's "Through a Scanner Darkly"

because this now infamous author was/is the king of paranoia mind play. Just the first few pages are hysterical in seeing the world through the affected mind of a paranoid drug addict.

Ball Four by Jim Bouton...nothing compares to it.

In the sophisticated division, Travels of Marco Polo and Machivelli's The Prince are at the top.
