Some of you know I generally play the 3-6 limit game live here in L.A. I have been thinking about, and would cherish the experience of playing the 15-30 limit game. Its a BIG step in money, so I would have to go into the game with a BR of $500.00 (thats my comfort level). I could step to 4-8 or 9-18, but would just prefer to give the 15-30 game a shot. I just don't want to go down in flames asap-that would be hard on the ego. Whats your vision(s) on this. :think2:

The buy-in for a 15/30 game is more than $500.

At a casino in Louisiana the minimum buy in for 10/20 is $500, so I am sure that a 15/30 would have to be more. By the way, most people buy in for more than the minimum though.

itd be very strange if the min buyin for a 15/30 limit game was more than 500, I would think $150(5 bets)

wow, that is gay. Does the casino hate money? Do the good players hate minbuyers who almost always bust? Like in the 100/200 Bellagio game, I love when people sit down with like $1000 or $1500. A lot of people just buy in one rack which is $2500(12 bets).

I got the answer from the source... the min buyin for the 9/18 is $90 which is 5x the bb like I assumed. I was also told the 15/30 almost never runs anymore due them going to a $5 sb at the commerce. Are you playing at Commerce or somewhere else?

Well then why is the minimum buy in for 3-6-12 $60 at casinos in Louisiana?

I will admit that I made an error in my first statement above. Usually the minimum buy in for limit is 20x times the big blind.

$500 buyin sounds correct then

Matt, for 9-18, someone would be stupid to only buy in for $90 in my opinion. If they catch a hand then they wont even be able to bet the river most likely due to raises on other streets.

For 9-18 limit, a person is crazy not to have at least $175 at the start of every hand in case you hit a hand

Like he said they must hate money are they have packed tables 24/7 and can restrict the buyins..Its standard to be 10xSB or 5xBB.
At our local casino half the players are people buying in 40 playing a few hands and their on their way .
Stupid or crazy thats the kind of loose casino players in these games.

Cheap if your really serious about playing in that game dont sit with a short stack. the regulars will take u for a square and they will know you have no room to manuever . Not to mention your handicapping urself. You need chips to play your game your way. buy em.

Commerce, yes I don't want to go into the game looking like a chump just off the turnip truck. Thats why I'd buy-in for $300.00 for the 9-18 game. Its usually open and seldom see more than one or two tables, so you can bet the regulars just sittin and waitin on donks to feed them. I'll be down there tomorrow, so I'll check out the 15-30. But, I think you are right Matt, the 9-18 maybe the better way to go. BTW, I always buy-in for 80 in the 3-6 game and that works well for loss control, etc.

PPP, I wont be able to make it this weekend! But i might go on July 5th.

PPP, is the minumum buyin really only $0 for the 4-8 game???

At all of the Lake Charles casinos, the minimum buy in for 3-6-12 is 60.

The minimum for 2-5 no limit buy in $200-500 or half whatever the big stack has.

The minimum for the $5-10 no limit at Coushatta is $500.

Weird to see that these are different

Hey PO , looking like i wont be either. Ill be pulling babysitting duty it looks like.
Theres a 6pm tourny on Saturdays at the Grand in Tunica ive been wanting to play also, could have went last week but again stayed here and blew my whole weekend playing 4/8 at the boat here and i really need a break from that game.

And yea id say 5 out of 10 people who sit down on like a weekend night at the 4/8 game buyin for 40 bucks. There is even a few half decent players who do it. They just keep buying in for 40 at a time and try to get on a roll.

The 2/5NL game here has a $100 min buyin but like i was telling Cheap, you buy in for $100 you can book it the 1st time u see a flop somebodys gonna put u all-in for it. Its like having 5BB;s in tourny when everyone else has 20+. Your just in bad shape any hand u play unless u have AA . They use the half the big stack rule also. I rarely play NL here, the quality of players is about on par with the .05/.10 NL game at say Stars and as if i need to say this...i dont take badbeats from idiots very well............lol

Well, headed to the card tables, with nerves of melted cheese. The 15-30 game had no tables and only a list of interest-you are right Matt. So, the 9-18 got my 300. Learned that I have to get my self under control up here if I'm going to play it more often. Just scared to shit and uneasy with the type of money being vaulted about. Anyway, with a vagina as tied as a nuns , I went down about 130...almost all blinds. Was, in all honesty, not getting anything but 3/7, 10/6 blah...blah...blah. Well, I finally catch AA in the BB and three players ahead raise to cap, which, shaking like a leaf on a tree, I call...thats 27 more pesos-three raises of 9.
Flop comes nothing, I check, one player checks, one bets, next guy raises, so I call the 36. Down to three players (one drops), 6th street is again no pair on the board, and nothing over a 10, only 2 suited. River comes J, I check again, guy bets, guy raises and I finally decide to raise, figuring I'm toast anyway, I'll just get of of Dodge if I lose. Guy folds, I get the call and I BEAT KK....Went up a bit, played a few more hands, and decided to walk with a few extra bucks and give this game some more thought. Not sure I'm cut out for this high of game-a rush-but man.

Should have capped it here huh?
The reason i cap it is it will tell u where ur at.
If its ckd to u on the next round u can pretty much be sure u have the best hand and the others r weak or r on a draw of some sort. ..being in the BB gives u a lil advantage in that anybody who raises will know the action still has to come back to u the guy who capped it last time. Usually the only person who will raise will be someone who has u beat and doesnt care if u reraise..
This game im sure is MUCH tighter than the 3/6 so moves like that usually get the weak hands out on the turn. Even the KK may fold fearing u already have a set or sumthin...

Im sure you are correct, but my table savy, if you want to call it that, just would'nt let me do it-scared player, feeling like a small fish in a big sea. Never-the-less, got to do some soul searching.

You need to not play that game. Scared money is dead money at the tables. I never play limit but it seems like 300 would be a low end of the buy in.

300 is not a bad buy-in as its about 17x BB. Its just that I am, well CHeaP. I guess what I am saying is a 3-6 game gives me the same thrill of beating peeps and if I win some fine, if I lose my 80 starting br, oh well. But parting with 300, is another story-that means basically four times losing my entire br at the 3-6 game. Also, this was my first adventure, and so, I need to absorb the experience and evaluate it over the next few weeks, time when I will surely play the 3-6 game.

Do they spread 4-8/5-10, why not try those first?

btw, I agree, low limit hold em by sklansky is a must, doesn't have to be followed to a T but will certainly help

Cheap have you tried NL holdem yet. You will never go back to limit after a couple of huge double ups. The key to NL is to win small pots and not exposing all you money and just grind it out. And only play big pots with big hands. In other words never put all your money in with just 2 pair or ass end of a straight.

Buy in for a 100 and be tight someone will pay you off.
