i'd like to think i win at least 8 or 9 out of 10...would take a beating but think you can eventually use your body weight to pin it down and choke it out/knee to throat action
related topic is i have always wanted to see how one of my dogs would do against the smaller coyotes i see all the time when walking them...he broke a leash to chase two of them once but I had a shock collar on him and was able to get him back before he met the rest of the pack...i think even one on one he might lose....i heard someone let a doberman out into a backyard to chase away a coyote and the 'yote did him

the reason I don't know about the pin down motion is because as long as it is a decent size dog (we have to assume it is), then it can probably wiggle out. Their necks I don't think are nearly as easy to get a grasp on as a human neck.
I think I beat the dog about 3-4 out of 10 times....I think I have to utilize my shoes and get a clean kick to the head and knock this guy out cold....once they get a grip on any of us we have a serious wound and they will hold unless they want to let go....so if we get some licks in then they will just release and bite in another area

if it clamps down on you i believe you would still be able to grab its throat and/or get on top of it before you were to die or become incapacitated (assuming a fit, decent size male)

LOL! This subject has crossed my mind as well. Not exactly a German Shepherd but I've thought shoving my fist and half my arm down it's throat and choking the son of a "bitch" to death. Sure you'll feel some bite pains as your clinched fist gets near the mouth but if you can get in there his biting ability will be greatly diminished once you get your fist and arm down.
I read somewhere that if a pit bull has you in a vice grip - you can get it to release by grabbing it's a-hole. Of course... if this didn't work and the dog proceeded to kill you, it would be a really f'd up way to die.
I would also be trying to snap limbs in a fight like this. you bring a knee down on a shepards leg just right and I gotta believe it snaps.
