The administration is fed up with him. Not with his coaching (which has sucked) ... but he is a complete jerk.

There have been several incidents off the court and he will be out as coach.
The top 2 targets are Calipari and Donovan.

My source tells me a deal is in the work for Donovan and he will accept.

What Gillespie did at UTEP and Texas A&M was pretty amazing
I guess he can't handle the big leagues though

Why the hell would Billy D want that job?

Donovan thought after his national championships, Florida would be more interested in basketball, but the fact is, it's still a football school.
Donovan has UK ties. He was an assistant here and would be a great fit (even though I would rather have Calipari).
Donovan doesn't have much coming back (especially if Calathas leaves).

Plus he is at a FOOTBALL SCHOOL.
THEY CAN'T SELL ANY GAMES OUT (EVEN AFTER THEY WIN 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS).

He will be entering a program with great prestige and a pretty solid group. Patterson will likely stay if Donovan is brought in. Donovan recruited Patterson and they have a great relationship. Meeks will be back. A top 10 recruiting class coming in (Orton, Hood, Pilgrim & Vilarano).

He has a great chance to be very successful and carry that momentum into the following season for recruiting.

Like I said, my "source" has told me that Gillispie is gone and Donovan is in. He has been right before and works for the university, so I trust his word ... but sometimes you just never know.

Gillispie will not be fired because his X's and O's ... it has to do with his attitude. He doesn't get along with anyone in the administration

Top 10 class recruiting this year with Orton (top 10 if he didn't get hurt this year) and Hood (top 35). 2010 we have a top 5 player coming in Dominuque Ferguson.

It might not be a top job, but it is still premier.

We are going through what North Carolina went through a few years ago (when Doughtery left with good recruits coming in and Williams comes in and wins with them). Gillispie has good recruits coming in ... we just need the right coach.

If Patterson and Meeks come back, UK will be a top 15 team next year. Mark my word (if Donovan is coach).
C-Orton 5*
PF-Patterson 5*
SF-Miller/Hood 4*
SG-Meeks (not sure his star, but we know he is good)
PG-Liggins 4*
Depth chart includes players who are starting now: Harris, Stevenson, Porter, Pilgrim (watch out for this guy ... Patterson even said he is one of the best players he has played against down low).

The future is looking good, but with Gillispie coming back, it might not be as promising.

i'd be shocked if Billy D leaves Florida for Kentucky. Sure Florida is still a football school but he's got everything he needs there to run a top class program.

He's got a good class coming and Macklin, a big man transfer from Georgetown.

I think Calathes would be stupid to leave. He was supposed to be some stud but the two years he's been there they've made it to the NIT twice. But next year should be better.

Like what?
Do they have basketball facilities like UK?
Do they have a sell out EVERY game (or any games)?
- Did you watch the UK game tonight against ND? There were more UK fans at that game than ND. Did you watch the Florida game the other night against Baylor ... there was NO ONE in the stands. No support.
Do they get the money they need like UK basketball?
He has made 2 NIT's in a row and not much coming back.

Why would he want to stay at a football school?

Florida played Baylor? Think you're confused there.

Is selling out every game important to a coach? He gets paid no matter what. Though Florida is a football school, Billy is still like a god at Florida. And if UK get him, they'll pay him a load of money but is it worth more money? I know he has ties to UK but i'd be surprised if he leaves. Who knows.

My bad ... I meant Penn St. Sorry about that ...

From my understanding ... Gillispie will be out on Friday and Donovan will be announced by Tuesday (Monday is what I am hearing).

we'll see but I don't see it. Also Billy's gotta pay $500K if he leaves UF without cause.

He's getting paid 3.5 million per year as the highest paid coach if i'm not mistaken, what would UK offer him? $4 million? Again, I don't see it. When he resigned with UF after turning down UK before, he said he did it cause he was happy at UF. Sure he's been two years to the NIT but it gives him a challenge to get back to the top.

Benny,

I agree with you, but I think that is why Duke's success from the Mid 80's to the early 2000's has been very impressive. The success is difficult to maintain and I think Billy realizes, it will be easier to succeed in Lexington. The support is fantastic, can't say the same for UF hoops.

Gets reduced to a push providing the other teams on your tease covered, if not, ticket is no good.
