Fade the Minnesota Twins every single game until the end of June. I'm extremely confident you'll make money.
The Twins are 28-19 and are playing so far over their heads it's not even funny. I'm all about regression to the mean and there isn't a team in baseball that is going to experience this more than the Twins.First, their lineup is outhitting their power profile by a large amount. The only regular lineup guy that might do okay this month is Kennys Vargas. I like his potential. Regulars like Dozier, Hunter, Plouffe, and Suzuki are hitting well past their capabilities. Once that power starts to drop off as they regress to the mean this offense is going to struggle. Their aren't any super dangerous hitters in this lineup. Half the guys are barely MLB-capable. Look for their bats to fall off the planet in June.
Next, their pitching is not good and has also outperformed what they are capable of sustaining. Pelfrey and and Gibson have ERAs around 2.75 but their WHIPs don't indicate they have much chance of keeping them there. Some bad pitching performances are coming up from those 2. Hughes and May? Do you really want to trust Hughes and May? Phil Hughes should have a couple good starts coming up but as a whole the pitching staff is going to struggle before too long as well.
Even Minnesota's bullpen has pitched over their heads. This is not a good bullpen and they should get hit pretty hard before too long.
There isn't a team in baseball this ready to experience regression to the mean. If the Twins play 30 games between now and the end of June, I predict they go about 10-20. Easy money.
