You are 2 for 2 with your "You guys shoud hammer" picks. Sunday with Cubs, last night with Boston.
I'm taking the Fish too. Beckett was strong @ the finish, whereas Zambrano had an ERA of 4.41 in September. Some people mentioned that maybe Zambrano was over-worked this year? In his last three games (including the playoffs), Zambrano has allowed 8, 7, and 11 hits. Atlanta got 11 hits, that is understandable. But 8 hits to Pitt and 7 hits to Cincy? They were playing minor-leaguers in September!
Beckett missed several games due to injury. Because of that, I think he flew under the radar. But make no mistake, he is Florida's ace.
I love Florida's ability to manufacture runs. As we've seen so far in the playoffs, every run is important. If Pierre or Castillo can get a lead-off walk/single, they can probably score without the Marlins getting a hit. Stolen base, sac bunt, sac fly, etc.
Then you've got the Pudge factor. Not only has he been a clutch-hitter, but do you really think any of the Cubs can steal a base from Pudge?
