Los Angeles Lakers guard Gary Payton, frustrated by what he said was both limited playing time and the team's triangle offense under Phil Jackson, said on Saturday that he may leave the team after the season.

"If that's the way (Jackson's) going to be, that's the way he's going to be, and I'll probably have to move on," Payton said.

With no rancor, Payton expressed frustration with his role in the team's offense. He isn't the focal point of the Lakers' attack, which features Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. Payton goes minutes at a time without shooting. And while Jackson juggles minutes among Bryant, Payton, Derek Fisher and Kareem Rush, Payton said Saturday that he shouldn't be the one who has to sacrifice his game.

Hey Gary, who would you place your bet on to win one on one, your 36 year old self or Kobe Bryant?

So in reality Gary is telling us he would rather play 45 minutes a game with the stats and lose for Seattle then play 25 and win on the Lakers...

Am I correct?

gary has a good point. the triange offense is a pretty outdated scheme, and isnt nearly as effective vs. the zone defense. he took peanuts to be on the lakers freak show, they arent exactly a write in for the title with the way things are, so of course he wants out.
