Received two nice gifts last night with both PL plays coming in, but was bitten by the shootout monster....again. Losing the xxx play at the hands of that bastard Lundqvist. Real quick, I need to vent: Why on gods green earth is Malkin and Crosby not shooting #1 & #2 in the shootouts? Arguably both are in the top 5 best players in the WORLD and Malkin was not even scheduled to shoot and Crosby keeps going third, at which time the Pens are usually out of the shootout. I think I am just upset because during the Pens 9-4 run, I have had them 3 times...all loses!! Arghhh, ok, I am done with that and moving on!
Lots going on tonight, and unlike last night where all the home teams won their games (Dont see that very often) I feel some away teams have the upper hand tonight. I had some extra time today, and hope I am not OVER analyzing, and really looked hard to try to find some winners, especially with a nice return value and with minimal risk. Here is what I came up with...x = 1 unit.
Blue Jackets +250 x
The Sharks have to lose at home sometime and I like the way the Jackets are playing. Nash is looking really good lately and could be the difference maker tonight. I also like Steve Mason's 6-2 record and his 2.08 GAA. Tis may be throwing money out the window, but I thought long and hard about this one unit play and decided to pull the trigger on it. Play at your own risk here please.
Nucks/Wings over 5.5 -115 xx
While I certainly think the Wings will win this game, I will not risk the huge money to play it. The PL always scares me a little and since I walked with two last night, I am staying away although it may be a nice, or best play in this contest. However, with Vancouver playing their third string goalie and Osgood giving up just over 3 goals per game himself, I think the risk vs. reward here is a good price. I seriously think 7 or 8 goals will be seen in this matchup.
Bruins/TB over 5.5 +110 xx
Traditionally the over plays well when these two clubs meet in Tampa. That being said I like the fact that signs are pointing to Manny getting the go tonight for the B's coupled with the scoring binge they are on as well. I noticed the Lightening are getting about 3 goals per game on a regular basis and in front of their home crowd against a top Eastern Conference team I think we see a repeat of the Flyers/TB game from Tuesday night and a 4-3 game here.
Avs +120
Great price for what I feel is an evenly matched contest. I feel that the better goalie lies with the Avs and I think they will turn the corner and start playing better hockey for a stretch. They are in virtually every game I have watched of them this season and they are scoring goals in bunches. Flat out and honest I just have a good feeling about this one!!
Sabres -120 xxx rated...
You may ask why the top play today is on a team that has gone just 2-7 in their last 9 games. Good question...but the Sabres own the Panthers winning 7 of their last 9 against one another. I especially like the fact that Florida is a walking wounded club and the Sabres are very healthy. Roy should play tonight. I have watched alot of Sabres games this year and their team speed should alone be enough to outscore the Panters tonight. They are well rested and a nice road game may relax them and get the juices flowing...at least thats what I am counting on.
good luck...
