the parts of Michigan he will be living is top notch, just ask some of the Michigan posters here. The suburbs around Ann Arbor are real real nice. Everytiime the Tigers bring a free agent here they are stunned how nice it is in the suburbs. I would have to think it is as good a place to live as WV.

It is a very nice area. When Miles was supposeddly going everybody said that Baton Rouge is better than Ann Arbor and that is just crazy. Just look at the crime rates between the 2. There hasn't been a murder in Ann Arbor in 2 years. Very good schools to. The only disadvantage is its cold. But I would almost rather be cold than be in Florida in August when its 100 degrees with 95% humidity.

You have a point, but Michigan is as depressing as it gets with all the unemployment and foreclosures and property value losses. At least he can take his big salary and buy an entire neighborhood.

He can offer $250K houses to recruits families for $20K. That is the going rate right?

I have always lived in or near big cities. Many times for me it is not a suprise when coaches leave certain places. However, I would find it very difficult to leave ATL for Arkansas, like Petrino or other places where some of these teams are.

As a fan of the Big 10. I still don't get how a guy like Rich is going to make them that much better. The team needs to be completely gutted offensively. Also, I think this will hurt Michigan. Michigan has always gotten players from all over. No more Amani Toomer's from CA or Ryan Mallet's from Texas. Yes, Pat White is a great College player, but players go to UM to go pro. I just don't see offensive players having the same ability to do that now. Also, in the Big East he has the best teams and could easily dominate and have shots at a national title.

Don't fool yourselves - just because Michigan has been "down" lately, their program as a whole is light years ahead of WVU.

Just goes to show that WVU isn't an elite program, just a stepping stone coaches can use to get to the next level of schools. Anyway, funny as hell to see Michigan just hire away coaches at will from WVU.

WV so I guess your a little upset that Rich is leaving your school. I get that but you can't really think that WV is as good of a program as UM. Michigan was 3 points from being #1 in the country and playing for the national title last year. They have won 2 conference championships in the last 5 years and the only reason they haven't won 4 in 5 years is because OSU who has played in the last 2 national championships is in the same conference.

WV is not as good a progam traditionally, but it is a better job with greater chances of success and title games. Doesn't a coach ever finish what he started anymore? Yeah I am bitter

somebody in the athletic department had to piss him off.....

he added a 450,00 addition to his house this summer so he could have recruits there....his wife and his family are all from wv.....its not over money.....

with the type of recruits he is getting now, it is actually a better chance to win a NC at wvu than mich....mich plays in a tougher conference.....wvu plays in an easier conference....

im not saying wvu is a better program.....years ago it would have been easier to win at mich but not now.....

also surprising with the team he had coming back next year....actually better than this years team....

hope we get jimbo.....

More storied tradition, much deeper pockets, better conference, vastly superior facilities, larger fan base, more national television exposure, more talent in the Midwest, Ann Arbor more appealing to potential recruits than Morgantown. Oh yeah, better helmets, too. WVU pales in comparison to UM in every aspect. You won't find a single coach that could/would argue that WVU is a better job. It's not even close. The fact a local guy who grew up in West Virginia and attended WVU just bolted for UM pretty much proves this point.

I will give you everything except vastly superior facilities and cooler helmets.

Really? I think that's the most indisputable factor. Pretty sure WVU doesn't have a stadium that holds 110,000+. A stadium that's about to be renovated with new press boxes as well.

The fact that you're even making an argument for the WVU program being on par with UM speaks to what a great job RR did there. Don't hire Bowden, though... would be a huge mistake.

Nothing personal against WVU (the poster) here but ...

I would sympathize with WV fans if even a single one had felt bad about plucking Huggins out of Kansas State ... they cheered that move and they cry about this one? How convenient.

Huggins, just like Rodriguez, was coming "home" to coach so it is a bit different, but I can understand what you are saying. Huggins also did not have a huge following of supporters at Kansas State. The WV athletic department bent over backwards for Rodriguez and gave hime more money and better facilities only to get left (before a big BCS game) holding the bag. Him taking highly sought after recruits will just be the final dagger. He could have built a legacy at WV and it is highly unlikely he can be as successful at Michigan. I give him less than 5 years before he is looking for work. Yes I am bitter.

Michigan is a top 5 job in the history of college football. If W Virg fans want to vent, it should be towards Don Nehlen, who pushed Rodriguez out the door. Talk about a traitor.
