I played both college and high school ball for a brief time, and never once was told that it was ok to blatently interfere with the ball. In fact I was told the opposite. You have to understand that there is a lot more at risk than there is to gain. A player could face being benched, or even worse a game being played under protest.
When I went out on the field, I tried to win fair and square, not by cheating.
