I'm talking about Nog getting this fight to the ground - Nog could not get Cro Cop to the ground for 15 minutes - meanshile Mirko was unleashing kicks left and right and he still could not get him down - if it goes to the ground - of course Nog is going to win - but Silvia is great at his fairy jab crap and could keep Nog at bay for a long time.

Fairy jab..lol

Basically thats what it is. Nog is going to have to be careful not be lulled in to that jab to because Sylvia follows hard with it here and there and could really put a hurting on him. Sylvia has serious power in both his arms and legs. To this day I have never seen a live event KO that was more brutal that when Sylvia KO'ed Tellingman with the high kick. I was ready to leave the arena after that one.

Gonzaga's kick was just as brutal and so was Rashard Evan's - but yes, Sylvia's kick looked down right painful

Those were brutal kicks but being there live and close to the Octagon to hear and see Sylvias was nuts. I seriously thought that he killed Tellingman.

One thing to consider...

Sylvia hasn't really faced a guy like Nog who not only can take him down and dominate with his submissions, but who can also punch to get inside. Randy Couture is about as close as Sylvia has faced. Monson has very nice jui jitsu (not as good as Nog's) but the fact he had a horrible reach made it nearly impossible to get inside for the takedown. Nog won't have those same issues because of his technical boxing and great chin.

WSW, you like MMA so here's an old school pic for you - it goes pretty far back - I went to Cuse when Kerr was there - that's him kicking Randy's ass at 190 for the NCAA title - who would have thought these would be two fighting legends - then he dominated MMA before it was big - then Randy came in late and cleaned house - below is a true stoty I posted at Sherdog about Kerr a while back

Kerr always came off as a very nice guy with a ton of demons. Good story.

picks from randy couture....a couple of these are nice dogs right?

The dude is shockingly accurate. He called Forrest Griffin over Shogun and Gonzaga over CroCop, which were two of the biggest upsets of last year.

THE NATURAL PICKS: UFC 81

A regular segment on The Fight Network’s original TV series’ “Before The Bell” and “After The Bell,” Randy Couture has his “Natural Picks” for this Saturday’s UFC 81 “Breaking Point” - live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas - locked in.

Here’s what the expert analyst is predicting:

INTERIM HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Tim Sylvia (26-3) vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (30-4-1) – Sylvia

“I think Tim will tire Nogueira out on his feet. I think Nogueira’s going to have trouble putting him on the ground and maneuvering Sylvia into his strength, which is his submission game. I can see it going a third-round KO, but I could also see it going the distance and Nogueira getting a beating.”

-----------------------------

HEAVYWEIGHT: Frank Mir (10-3) vs. Brock Lesnar (1-0) - Mir

“I’m going with Mir with a second-round submission. As big and strong as Lesnar is, and as hard as he’s going to come, I think he’s going to put Mir right where he wants to be and Lesnar’s going to get out of position and get caught.”

-----------------------------

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Jeremy Horn (88-16-5) vs. Nate Marquardt (28-7-1) - Marquardt

“I’m going to go with Marquardt. Jeremy hasn’t really been the same since the Liddell fight. I think he realized he’s not infallible and can be hurt. Taking the fight on short notice probably isn’t the wisest thing. Marquardt is strong for that weight class and hits hard. I think Horn’s going to have trouble taking Marquardt down to find a wily way to submit him.”

-----------------------------

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Rob Yundt (7-0) vs. Ricardo Almeida (8-2) - Almeida

“Almeida.”

-----------------------------

LIGHTWEIGHT: Gleison Tibau (27-3) vs. Tyson Griffin (10-1) - Griffin

“I’m going with Tyson Griffin. Both guys have great fighting spirit, but Tyson’s very difficult to submit and will bring a torturable pace to the fight that Tibau’s going to have trouble keeping. I think it will be a decision and probably be the fight of the night."
