I just thought about a crazy trade. Tell me what you and the rest of you guys think of this...

Mark Buehrle, Joe Crede, and Jermaine Dye
for
Alex Rodriguez and Carl Pavano

Part of me thinks this trade is nonsense because all three Sox players are free agents to be, but they also make the Yankees an instant top 3 team in the AL. They pick up a solid starter that they can afford to re-sign for an injury-prone starter they don't even rely on anymore. They pick up a young, cheap, very talented 3B that they can easily re-sign. They also get an OF w/ a great arm, who can perform on the big stage, and a player that still has at least another two very productive years left in the tank.

As for the White Sox, they get the MUCH needed power hitter who's having a great season. His name alone makes the White Sox lineup that much more intimidating (or maybe JUST intimidating as right now it scares NO ONE). And if they can keep Pavano healthy, this trade will look like a STEAL for them.

What do you guys think?

quote=punz34;4204825]they suck, wtf man[/quote]

The game can stay like this until the 9th inning. Wheeler comes in, a bloop, a blast, and a White Sox winner!

Wheeler career vs. Sox: 0-2, 1 SV, 7 IP, 9.00 ERA, 11 H, 7 ER

I'd prefer a hugeeeee 6th, 7th, and 8th from the Sox, but I'll take a win anyway possible.

Yankees would be crazy to accept. An older pitcher (who knows how successful he's been against AL East opposition, I can't imagine it's great), over the hill veteran having a terrible year (Dye) and an injured 3B with a bad back and even worse stick before getting injured.

Throw in Jenks and Garland and you might get someone else back but why would the Yankees do that trade.

Buehrle's not that old (28). Pavano is DONE in the eyes of many, but the Sox love pitchers that everyone else has counted out.

Yankees, as evident by the Clemens signing, are thinking about 2007 and don't care about anything else. Dye and Crede make that lineup sickkkk (they can't stay as bad as they've been). Wang/Pettitte/Clemens/Buehrle/Hughes? That's sick for one year as well.

Meanwhile, they lose A-Rod who they can easily do w/o and Pavano (dead money in their eyes).
