Owned by "A" rated WSEX

Low odds. 2% commission.

No sign up bonus (as yet).

That was posted on another forum. Could one of the regulars confirm the ownership, please? I can't find any info on the WSEX site on that subject.
Thank you.

affiliated or owned by WSEX? Please clarify. If Steve and Haden own matchbook, I'll join immediately.

2% commission is very good for punters, but I doubt the company will last long at that level...

There is at least one other exchange with 2% commission on baseball and either 2 or 3% otherwise. Remember their own money is not at risk, except for expenses.

Be interesting to know what affiliated means. The CSR at their call centre in Ireland was unsure about affiliation. If it involves shared expenses for computer servers, support etc. with WSEX then the exchange has a secure back end.

I'm not talking about this one in particular, but there is no way an exchange can survive on 2% commission...and when you say "their money is not a risk," who do you think is going to provide liquidity at the beginning?

PierO is right on the Money. There doesnt appear to be enough liquidity even in the biggest market ( soccer) to support more than Two Exchanges. People need to be very careful how much they deposit, some exchanges are losing money while others have gone under. I have been told by a reliable source, that Betdaq are losing 3 Million a year, a loss which the owners are willing to accept for a couple of more years, but bear in mind, no new exchanges will have Betdaq's backing or Betfair's market share. So any new exchange is odds on to go under, and when they do, it will be with your deposits.

i'd assume you'd have to email them, since there is no "transfer funds" link on the cashier menu, and it's not mentioned on either site. i got the info from SBR.

SBR initiates coverage of Matchbook at B-. Matchbook is a new betting exchange that is funded by the ownership of WSEX (SBR rating A). The exchange aims to offer the American sports bettor the ability to wager via peer-to-peer with the same ease of making a wager at a regular sportsbook. Matchbook has developed its own software and says they have focused on simplicity and functionality. Like all betting exchanges, the quality of the playing experience will be dependant on Matchbook’s ability to attract players and an active trading market. This operation is still in its infant stages.
Player funds are backed by the same investment group behind WSEX and players are able to make transfers between Matchbook and WSEX at no charge. However, Matchbook holds its own gaming license and has separate operational, customer service and management teams.

me 2, considering i had no opinion on the game. liked the idea of getting the Heat at -3 1/2 (+127) 3 mins. into the game. gotta love those NBA 8-0 runs back and forth. They're good for something, afterall

Mansion still charges no commission on their exchange (no in-game though)...this will obviously change at some point but people should take advantage while it lasts - great sportsbook as well.

Guys –

We’d planned on making an official forum announcement about the Matchbook project, but it looks like the cat's already out of the bag. So here goes:

Matchbook is the newest (and arguably best-looking) member of a holding company that already has stakes in WSEX, World Poker Exchange, the new World Backgammon Exchange, and other gaming-related projects. So your funds are just as safe at Matchbook as they are with WSEX or WorldPX.

Steve and I worked closely with the Matchbook team (which including some of our legendary interactive players), and we’ve got a ton of respect for what they’ve achieved. We're not involved with them on a day-to-day basis, as they have their own operations and customer service teams, and we’re also not doing anything with their markets, just to answer two common questions we’re getting.

As a sportsbook, we obviously don't see eye-to-eye with them on some things ("10 Reasons to Leave Your Bookie"? ouch!), but we recognize that exchange betting is the future in a lot of ways, and we're glad to be in with these guys on the ground floor.

In the meantime, it’s business at usual for us at WSEX, and we encourage everyone at the RX – especially those of you who are up a big number with us – to check out Matchbook real closely :).
