Long time lurker 1st time poster.

I've been playing the WSEX market as of late and made a pretty good amount of coin (by my standards) over the last few weeks which has made me leery that a dry spell is soon around the corner. I'm a rookie at this, following the principle of buying low and selling high.

Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone had any other tips on making money on the market or just advice in general about the market.

Thanks.

Maybe you can help me out with a question. I've never played the markets but have always wanted to try. When you place an order to buy a contract, does WSEX match you with a seller or does WSEX assume the roll of the seller if there are no sellers in place?

WSEX is the seller. WSEX makes liquid markets throughout the entire event. You don't have to worry about all bids and offers disappearing.

What are the limits? Do they differ for different sports?

Lets take today's baseball for example. Share's of Houston at 35 each pregame. Bought 30 shares totalling 1050. Sold at 2 outs at 40 a share and 1-0 lead for 1200 and a profit of 180 in an inning.

In and out of innings is pretty much how I've been playing it at this point in baseball. Like I said, I'm a rookie at this and I don't claim to know everything about the market and it's swings.

I know in football the momentum of the market swings a lot faster but money can be made (and lost if you're not careful). I've just been watching the market during football games but haven't jumped in that sport yet, just baseball.

As I was typing the previous post, I checked Houston and they're down to 28 because St Louis put 2 up. This is where I'm glad to have sold at 40.

I held 60 shares of the Yankees @50 when they were tied w/ Boston on Saturday. When then took the lead, the shares jumped to 60 and sold for the quick profit. Had I stayed in 1 run longer I would have made more because the pitcher balked and walked another run in putting the price up to 71. I would have made a killing holding onto the 60 shares till the end being that they went on to score 19 but I decided to take what I could get because at that point the game was going back and fourth and they were trading leads.

Ted Turner once said, "I made money on the stock market because I never bought stocks at the lowest price and never sold them at the highest price"

If you think it doesn't make sense, it just means that you need to have a target price and have the discipline to sell at the target price. You can't try to hit the maximum to sell or let it hit the minimum to buy:)

Awesome advice Cinci!

Does anyone know why sometimes your order is only partially filled at times during buying?

Balco VIP, I believe WSEX has a limit of 50 contracts at any one time. If someone buys 20 contracts and then you come in and try to buy 40 contracts, you will only get 30(partial fill). I envy your discipline on buying low and selling for a profit instead of being greedy and holding on, only to see the contracts go to $0 when the team loses.
