The new Padres stadium on ESPN right now, anybody ben to it yet, very unique looking , especially after all the recently built stadiums this one seems to still look different...I like the way you can see thru the outfield fence, and I see a 358 power alley to left lol...
Its gotta be heaven for a guy like Brian Giles after playing in the city of Pittsburgh...

i have been to the stadium. fantastic. however, it appears that right field has been designed to contain bonds. fences are way back and pads have still yet to hit a HR in the new park. they have CRUSHED the ball at least 4 times for ground rule doubles. klesko, nevin and giles are annoyed.

as far as fan experince. it is off the hook. PETCO is now a reason to come to SD. gaslamp quarter is very close by and the seating is just fantatsic. great views. I will be trying to sit at different vantage points during the season... but the Co. I work for has a premium luxury suite that is hard to pass up.

Sounds awesome SoCal, I am just getting familiar with the dimensions, it looks like rightfield was designed to stop Barry ...I believe he owns SD lifetime, but left field looks very reachable...I can see why Klesko and Giles would be discouraged. But Nevin should feast.... and with Burroughs, Nevin and Giles this team looks set for contention, San Diego looks like one helluva place to live!

Ridiculous, contain Bonds? He hit a ton of 400+ foot homers in the Q, silly to think you try to stop a guy that plays 10 or less times a year there. I think that is the key for all these stadiums, nice indeed, but massive upgrades over the last park. I think back to what a sorry dump Candlestick was, how horrible it was to be in the Kingdome on a beautiful sunny summer day (yes it gets sunny often in Seattle during the summer) and now this upgrade over the Q which had to be one of the worst places to watch a game unless it was packed. I never saw Toronto's old stadium, but that was an obvious ugrade. Memorial Stadium was kinda ugly too, but back then no one had any idea what was possible. I look forward to seeing PETCO next month, although I did see it back in November when it was almost done and it does look nice. Kind of strange though for anything that isn't in San Francisco, having not an ounce of parking around there. Considering San Diegans with money almost completely ignore transit that has to be a nightmare. At least in SF the people use transit quite frequently. I would imagine the parking costs more than a lot of the tickets.

I said 'stop Barry' tongue in cheek, afterall he would only be around a couple more years anyway, just basically pointing out Barry has owned SD... a staggering 75 lifetime Homeruns vs Pads

i mentioned right field designed to contain Bonds somewhat in jest... however, it is most definelty designed to play "big". And in fact jay payton took one away from Bonds by leaping over the fence on opening nite.
pad still havent hit a HR

Place is huge. I kind of like it that a homerun isn't cheap.

Nothing wrong with a team putting up hometeam friendly dimensions...I`m sure SD brass has their reasons for making it appear to be pitcher friendly....

When Camden Yards was built the dimensions were decided with Cal Ripken in mind...The team decided to copy the Metrodome`s dimensions, it was Ripken`s best away park...

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL
