And back up to 85 scholarships next year.

Due to Penn State University’s significant progress toward ensuring its athletics department functions with integrity, the NCAA Executive Committee today eliminated the school’s postseason ban, effective immediately, and will return the full complement of football scholarships in 2015-16.
The committee’s action endorses recommendations released today by George Mitchell, the university’s athletics oversight monitor, in his latest report.
In addition to the scholarship and postseason participation changes, Mitchell also recommended that if Penn State continues to make impressive progress at the conclusion of the 2015 report, Mitchell’s oversight may conclude substantially earlier than 2017, the date set forth in the original agreement between the NCAA and Penn State.

Haha go figure..a negative post from someone from Pittsburg....

show ow me one piece of evidence where joe paterno had any knowledge of what Sandusky, someone who was not even a coach at the time..was doing...

you do know that after the alleged incident that mcquery "said" that he witnessed, the only charge Sandusky was found not Guilty on by the way...that the children and youth services and other child protection agencies interviewed Sandusky and did background checks and allowed him to adopt children right? If professions didn't know he was dojng that shit...how the fuck does paterno know...

some of you people need to actually read the freeh report in it's full extent and then read the report that the paternos furnished.....and I'm not talking about either of the cliff notes, I'm talking about the whole thing, I am certain your tune will change...unless you are from Pittsburgh

What did mcquery tell joe? Since you know everything what did he tell him?
Because mcquery, the coward fuck, told his dad the same thing, and his dads friend who is a well respected doctor...the night the alleged incident occurred...what did those 2 people tell him to do...said to come home and they will talk to joe in the morning...so obviously it was nothing that either of the two very well respected men professionaly thought was criminal....then they talk to joe, then the AD and the pres of university ..and the head of the police...and none of them think what he is telling them is criminal....then 10 years later he starts telling a different story...mcquery is a lying scumbag...his father basically said as much on the stand.....

There was no reason to feel sorry for Penn State football. No reason to feel that the punishment was too much. No reason to reward Penn State for doing the things it should have been doing all along.
So it's hard to find any reason, actually, that the NCAA decided to let Penn State out on good behavior or, in this case, on a change from monstrous behavior to decent human behavior.
The NCAA announced Monday that it will lift Penn State's bowl ban and recruiting restrictions immediately, two years earlier than the original punishment for the Penn State scandal.
Meanwhile, the dozens of boys who were sexually assaulted will live with it for the rest of their lives.
The message supposedly is that Penn State is doing all the right things now. Jerry Sandusky is in prison forever where he can't hurt anyone else. Coaching staffs have changed twice. Joe Paterno is gone too. So why punish the players and coaches on this year's team when they had nothing to do with what happened?
The thing is everyone there now could have left or didn't have to come at all. They knew what the punishments were.

The real message here is that football is still society's king. That's exactly what caused the problem in the first place. It didn't turn Sandusky into a sexual predator, but it did create a culture—or actually a cult—that allowed Paterno and the university to turn into the great enablers.
Can we just all say this together? In Penn State's case, football doesn't matter. It shouldn't anyway.
Those men who were sexually assaulted as children are more important than football. The punishments placed not only on Sandusky, but also on the school were meant to send that message.
It was a good message. A just message. And the NCAA just cut it in half.
The mission of a university is to take care of our kids, to help them to grow. It is not to play bowl games. Penn State didn't do what it was supposed to do.
If it has fixed itself up and is now representing some form of virtue, then good for Penn State. Serve your time, and then go about your future, knowing that everyone will be watching.
The key words: Serve your time.
The school still has to pay a $60 million fine. And 112 of Paterno's wins are still forfeited.

The NCAA acted after Sen. George Mitchell's second annual report on Penn State, which said the school was fostering an "ethical culture" and a system that placed oversight of the football team outside the athletic department.
Meanwhile, Paterno's son, Scott, issued a statement saying (via Pennlive.com) that "this is one more step in correcting the unjust and irresponsible penalties imposed on the university."
Scott Paterno also said this about his father:
See, this is the problem. It's not just Paterno's family either. It's the cult that still can't grasp what has happened.
That in itself is evidence that it's not time for this team to be celebrating bowl games.
The Paterno family's desire to try to clear Joe's name is understandable. It was a name that stood for all the right things for decades and then turned to mud just before he died. But how cold is it that anyone is talking about Paterno's vacated victories today?

Sandusky's victims aren't getting their sentences reduced. Imagine what they must think seeing Penn State's punishments reduced, momentum turning and the Paterno family already calling, on this day, for the victories to be reinstated.
It just seems the actions in this case are always only a response to public pressure, not about what was right for the victims.
The program, the cult, the system let them down in the first place, and Penn State was rightly penalized. Now that the public pressure is off, that doesn't mean it's time to let Penn State off the hook.

This is a great move by the NCAA. Next they have to get Joepas wins back. He was thrown under the bus and did absolutely nothing wrong. This is one monster who deserves to burn in hell. Punishing everyone who had nothing to do with it, especially the current students was ridiculous. Very good move by the NCAA!

[h=1]Victim Files Lawsuit Against Penn State, Sandusky and Second Mile[/h]by Jennifer Miller on September 04, 2014 1:49 PM

An attorney representing a man who says he was a victim of child sexual abuse at the hands of former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has filed a lawsuit against Penn State, Sandusky and his charity, Second Mile.
Attorney Bret Southard of Williamsport filed the lawsuit Aug. 18 in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court on behalf of plaintiff "D.F.," who says as a child he was a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Sandusky.
Southard alleges Sandusky's sexual abuse of children dates as far back as the 1970's and Penn State University failed to properly report incidents of abuse, including an alleged incident in 2000 when a janitor reportedly witnessed Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy on campus. Southard argues had Penn State and Second Mile properly reported the abuse, his client would not have fallen victim to Sandusky.
Sandusky, now a convicted pedophile, is serving 30 to 60 years in state prison. In 2012, a jury found him guilty on 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys over a 15-year period. Some of the crimes occurred on Penn State's campus.
Sandusky is also the founder of Second Mile, a non-profit outreach organization targeting at-risk youth. Some of Sandusky's victims participated in Second Mile events and programs, including "D.F." The suit claims Sandusky "recruited, groomed and coerced" the victim throughout the years the victim attended Second Mile programs.
The lawsuit alleges that in 2008 or 2009 Sandusky picked the victim up from his home to take him on a shopping spree and while in the car forced the victim to engage in a sexual act. Afterward, Sandusky bought the victim various items, including Nike shoes.
The suit claims that on Aug. 20, 2008, Sandusky picked the victim up at his home, drove him to the Penn State-Coastal Carolina University football game "providing excellent, expensive seating" before leaving in the third quarter. Sandusky then allegedly took the victim to Sandusky's home and forcibly raped the child.
Sandusky allegedly threatened to harm the victim and the victim's family if he reported the abuse, the suit says. "Plaintiff, because of his age, was too afraid and heeded defendant Sandusky's threats," the complaint says.
The plaintiff alleges Penn State and Second Mile failed to take any action to prevent placing children in danger while Sandusky was an employee or agent for both entities.
Specifically, the lawsuit alleges a janitor witnessed Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in a shower at Penn State's Lasch Building in 2000, following Sandusky's retirement from the university and eight years before Sandusky abused "D.F."
According to the lawsuit, the janitor reported the incident to janitorial staff, "however, no action was taken by defendant Penn State to investigate or determine if defendant Sandusky had molested others prior to 2000." The suit also alleges janitorial staff members were "encouraged not to report or investigate the incident any further."
The lawsuit also refers to the 2002 incident in which former assistant football coach Mike McQueary allegedly witnessed Sandusky showering and engaging in abuse with a child in the Lasch Building – which happened at least six years before Sandusky allegedly abused "D.F."
The suit claims while the university removed Sandusky's privileges to the Lasch Building's locker room, the university and Second Mile failed to make a report regarding the sexual abuse and failed to take any further action to limit Sandusky's access to minor boys "knowing that he had sexual illegal tendencies around minor boys."
"Neither of the defendants contacted the law enforcement agencies to determine whether defendant Sandusky had a prior criminal record of the heinous acts committed dating back to the 1970's and numerous minor boys would not have been sexually assaulted by defendant Sandusky including plaintiff," the complaint says.
The lawsuit claims the university's failure to notify law enforcement of the incident witnessed by McQueary placed "D.F." "in a dangerous position by being allowed to be alone with defendant Sandusky."
"Had defendant Second Mile and defendant Penn State acted responsibly in confronting defendant Sandusky as to the allegations of sexual molestation, plaintiff may not have been sexually assaulted by defendant Sandusky," the complaint says.
Additionally, while Central Mountain High School restricted Sandusky's access to the campus following a complaint of abuse by a student's parent, the lawsuit alleges Penn State and Second Mile never restricted Sandusky's access to children, despite multiple accounts of abuse.
The complaint says the victim has suffered physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and humiliation, loss of life's pleasures, emotional distress, loss of self-esteem and he continues to incur costs for medical and psychological treatment.
The victim is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
So far, Penn State has reached monetary settlements with 26 victims for a total of $59.7 million.
Penn State declined to comment on the ongoing litigation. Second Mile could not be reached for comment.
