Wow, did Smoltz find the "fountain of youth" when he came to STL?

he looked like he was all but done in Boston, so he comes back to the NL, and although it was against the lowly Padres, he still managed to go 5 innings, 3 hits, and 9 k's......

those are old Smoltz numbers there, except he would have gone longer in the past....thats pretty impressive though, after struggling all year so far....this could be a real steal for the Cards if he can manage to stay close to that the rest of the year.....

He seems like a nice guy, so glad to see it for him, but can say, I am surprised...wasnt sure he had that kind of outing left in him....

Smoltz looked good in his first rehab start with the Cards. Looks like he will get two more rehab starts vs the Nationals and Pirates before we finally get to see him against an MLB squad at Milwaukee.
