The Twins are close to landing Delmon Young from the Devil Rays in a six-player deal that would send Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett and Juan Rincon to Tampa Bay.

The Twins would also pick up Brendan Harris and Jason Pridie, the Star Tribune's La Velle E. Neal III reports. Unless the Twins see Young as an option in center, he'd probably play left, with Jason Kubel DHing against right-handers. Nick Punto could replace Bartlett, leaving Harris to take over at second until Alexi Casilla is ready. The Rays would be opening up room in the outfield for Rocco Baldelli or Elijah Dukes. Jonny Gomes' chances of sticking around would also seem to increase. Nov. 28 - 3:05 pm et

tampa bay might actually be trying to get some decent pitching for once. they were the best 'bad team' in baseball last year.

ive got to believe there are more off the field issues with young than what we already know about. no way you trade him for this package, imo.

If they can get a couple of middle relievers, they should be decent. After those trades during the season that brought back some pitching, they were an ok team.

Wow, I like Garza a lot. I think hes going to be a solid pitcher for many years. Delmon Young is a stud though if he can just control himself

they would actually be making a rare sharp move if they unload him now....because he's gonna fall flat on his fat ass like his brother and his trade value is as high as it will ever be.

If you have a discerning eye and watch as many D-Rays games as i do...you'd know what i mean...and its not just the off the field problems...hes just not very good despite some decent stats. lot of holes in his game that should just get bigger...

The D-Rays are stacked w/ young pitching.

drafting guys like dewon brazleton can set your organization (and pitching staff) back in a hurry. rays always claim to have it (young pitching) but its got to produce on the field at the big league level for them. at least garza and rincon have shown that ability. with tampa, is always home grown hype.
