Unreal. Boozer was set to make like $600,000 next year but the Cavs let him opt-out so they could give him a generous 5-6 million per year raise and he ends up signing with the Jazz. Way to go Cavs.

People are basically shit, but so is Jim Paxson.

I've said it several times on this forum:

1) Paxson is a terrible GM.
2) Paxson didn't deserve his promotion (given to him because he "picked" LeBron in the draft).

There is a reason certain teams (Clippers, Cavs) always suck.

It appears as though Boozer wasn't totally honest with the Cavs.

HOWEVER, I think the Cavs got caught trying to pull a fast one. They were going to give Boozer the mid-level exception, about $5-6 million/year.

Unfortunately (as evidenced by the Utah deal), Boozer's market-value was about $10-11 million/year.

Cleveland obviously under-estimated Boozer's value. Somewhat silly to expect Boozer to sign for $5 million when he can get $11 million.

The Cavs suck. They will always suck. To allow Boozer to get away is going hurt them big time. Boozer was the Cavs main man on defense, the force underneath, and go to man. I did read that the Cavs can match the offer. I think James is going to tell the Cavs to get Boozer back or else.

Cavs just went bye-bye. It might not seem like it to some now but it will be more reasonable once the season resumes again. For those who are upset toward the Jazz, I think you should be mad at your Cavs GM instead. Paxson took a big risk when he made Boozer a FA, and Utah did nothing wrong by signing him. I can see why you'd be upset with Boozer as well since he backed out of his verbal commitment.

Boozer backstabbed the Cavs.

And something is brewing in Utah, no more Stockton and Malone type of gameplay anymore.
Big ups to the Utah Jazz.

Won't be easy for the Cavs to match the offer sheet. They're only $4 million under the cap. In order to create enough cap-room, they need to trade/release some players.

From what I've read and heard, there is a 95% chance Boozer will play for Utah.

FYI, last July Jim Paxson signed Ira Newble and Kevin Ollie to 5-year/$15 million contracts.

So the Cavs are giving Newble and Ollie a combined $6 million/year. Hmmmmmmmmmm. You think the Cavs could use that $6 million right now?

Would you rather have Newble and Ollie (sitting on your bench most of the time), or would you rather have Boozer?
