The Mekong giant Catfish: It sounds like a freak-show exhibit from Barnum’s American Museum. In fact, it was hauled from northern Thailand’s Mekong River last month by a team of fishermen. At 9 feet long and 646 pounds, the giant cat is the largest freshwater fish ever caught. Unfortunately, it could not be kept alive and subsequently fed the local village.
